He does not sexually assault girls (Ben Roethlisberger)
Does not make dogs fight for money (Michael Vick)
He is faithful to his wife (Tiger Woods, Chris Pronger)
Does not take drugs to cheat (Alex Rodriguez, Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa)
Does not bring guns into the dressing room (Gilbert Arenas)
Does not beat up Cabbies ( Patrick Kane)
Most importantly he has not turned his back on his fans the way many of them have turned on him.
Besides Tim Thomas, since the lockout no goaltender has won the cup single handedly. In fact there was a very strong arguement that an elite goaltender was simply not needed in order to be successful and win a cup.
The horrible truth is that the Canucks have been shutout in 4 of their last 10 games that had any meaning, including the most important game that any hockey team can play in. We should be proud of Luongo and everything he has given Canucks fans.
We need to support our team though the good times and the bad times. If you want off the bandwagon give your ticket to someone that will cheer on our team. I'll be here in May when you get back.

So much hand wringing
and whining from people on this site the last few days over some fans doing something that in no way should influence the players. (not necessarily calling this article whinging just so we are clear) So much ado about nothing. Guess what? The fans who gave Luongo the Bronx cheer? If they are emotionally invested and financially invested in this team they are just as much of a fan as us here at NM. And their opinions and emotions are just as valid as ours. We aren’t better than them. We aren’t really a more “enlightened” group. For better or worse we are Canuck fans and we are a large and diverse group. If people don’t like Luongo and want him gone they are entitled to that opinion. And there is no right or wrong opinion as far as that is concerned.

Actually that is not what I said. I am trying to provide some perspective to the situation. The amount of hate thrown his way on a consistent basis rivals that of those other sports figures above, does he deserve that?
I am also saying that he has done more for this franchise than any other goaltender. He certainly got us closer to the prize than anyone else.
