I was skeptical of that trade too, and of Ballard’s performance for the first third or so of the season. You could say Gillis got lucky by holding on to everyone, and now we actually have enough guys to fill in for E-money, but he made a gamble holding on to everyone and I am now glad that he did.

I dunno if it was luck. Ballard has been good on a few other teams and provided good now and future value to the Canucks. I really didn’t think a lot of the critique contemplating a trade was fair or wise, given him battling though a couple of injuries. I think this wasn’t so much of a gamble in that respect as Gillis recognizing that Ballard had huge upside and that there would likely be injuries down the stretch (like almost any other team)
