So it was a buddy of mine's birthday a couple days ago, and his dad got him some Canucks tickets... not really having any ardent Canucks fans in his family he asked me if I wanted to go.... and I enthusiastically accepted. Our seats were pretty awesome, lower bowl, Section 122, pretty close to Luie's net for periods 1 and 3. The closest Ive ever sat in a game. Very epic. Here are some pictures from the game.
DEFENSIVE ZONE FACEOFF TIME HURR DURR
Starting line-up.... Burrows. He's telling me him and I should hang out more.
His dad bought us beers and hot dogs. $7.50 for a cup of Canadian? Bollocks! Thats like a cheap 6 pack right there. His dad told us some stories about his work after the game. He's a higher-up in the RCMP, he did Joe Biden's security during the Olympics. Apparently Joe Biden is a nice guy, but the Secret Service guys are assholes. He tried telling them that running a 27 car motorcade through the streets of downtown Vancouver was impossible, but they didn't listen.
Burr-Voltron post-win high five!
RUDY getting the third star
Luie with the first star... trying to give his stick away
Great win boys
Fuck yeah I'll stay connected.
Tried to get a picture of Trev but Smo, Vanguy and 87 got in the way.
Pretty ballin' ticket
So the game was pretty awesome.. the first two periods didn't see any goals, but the third period was where we got out money's worth. Sweatt's goal was at the other end, but you could see the play develop. I saw Sweatt come off the bench, Burrows hit Ward, Daniel get the puck, pass to Sweatt.... when Sweatt had the puck, Im ashamed to say that I actually yelled "SHOOOOOOOT".... good thing he listened to me.
What a save by Luie
Seeing the game up close is something that cannot be explained. You see how hard these guys hit, how hard their slapshots are, how well Hank and Dank pass, how hard Kes and Burrows work.... its amazing.
