September 9th Open Ice
You know what I like about this blog? Despite all the differences our commenters may have (especially in regards to analyzing how the team is organized), we can still have very civil conversations about touchy subjects like the one that happening last night in yesterday's Open Ice. Kudos to everyone for not being intolerant jerks!!
- Added: Ryan Kesler annihilated Sean Leahy in NHL 2K11.
- Alas, Dan Ellis has said goodbye to Twitter. In related news, #wyshynskisfault is currently the 3rd trendiest topic in Canada at the moment.
- Mike Gillis has said he'll be talking to Roberto Luongo about the Canucks captaincy at some point next week.
- Many Canucks players are pumped about the upcoming season.
- Alexandre Burrows is hoping to avoid the shoulder injury debacle that kept Pavol Demitra out until January last season. Burrows will soon be meeting with a doctor to get a good timeline for his return.
- Also on the injury front, an MRI shows that Cody Hodgson actually has a torn muscle, not a bulging disc. (h/t to adiderek in the fanshots)
- Just a quick reminder that Canucks regular season single-game tickets go on sale tomorrow.
Open topic for today is a guessing game: For which specific game will Mr. Everything make his return to the Canucks lineup?

RE: the Mike Gillis link talking about captaincy.
Isn’t there still the one glaring issue that is the salary cap?
So don't get violent and don't get caught with your head down, the night she stole the moon.
well, from what i understand, having Salo and Burrows both on IR gives him a little extra time to figure it all out.

CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $1,975,000
Cutting out Hordi, Rome, Burr and Salo gives us almost 2m in cap space.
This is also my current prediction on the starting lineup for October 9th.
Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.
Edler up top with Hamhuis, I think. Ballard with Erhoff, leaving a mean-as-fuck pair as the third stringers.
Every pair has an attacker and a defender (though both Hamhuis and Ballard can jump into the play, I don’t see that as their primary jobs). Love to see the coach who thinks they can get away with putting less-skilled forwards out against Bieksa. Like it even more when he jumps past them and scores by crashing the opponent’s net.
Mean As Fuck Pair
I like that
"Playin hurt, baby that don't faze me. I don't got time for pain. The only pain I've got time for is the pain I put on fools who don't know what time it is!"
Edler-Hamhuis, Ballard-Ehrhoff, and Bieksa-SOB are actually not bad, but knowing AV likes sticking SOB with Ehrhoff, it will probably be Bieksa-Hamhuis, Edler-Ballard, Ehrhoff-SOB.
He liked sticking SOB with Ehrhoff
that needs to be past tense. This is a new year with new players and we have no idea who AV will think works well together and let’s be honest it’s more Bowness than AV anyway.

So a torn muscle is no big deal right? He’ll go full board in training camp, produce dismal numbers, then bitch about how the doctors screwed him over and he couldn’t make the team.
Actually, they are holding off until he is 100% before he plays. Just like Burrows and Salo (although he is likely closer to recovery than them(
The Doctors missed the muscle injury last year as he had two simultaneous injuries in a similar area. It’s not Cody’s fault he trusted the doctors’ opinions and played. Injuries are part of the game and so are mistakes.
Your post is troll-like :P
Burrows will return...
…after certain rites are performed by certain fans of the team on a certain night.
Details a sketchy, but early returns suggest he comes back against the Devils the day after Hallowe’en. Bwahahhaaaa!
He’s not eligible until the next day (Nov. 2 vs Edmonton) if he starts the season on LTIR (minimum 10 games and 24 days).
I think he’ll join the team on the 5-game Eastern road trip and he’ll be ready for the Habs’ game on the 9th.
Yeah, he’d hate to miss that Habs game to play in front of his friends and fam

the last act I saw in concert was a guy playing a hand saw.

How does this give u guys musical boners? I really tried to like it, I did. Is throwing in some less common instruments and singing derivative irish folk song hooks all it takes nowadays? I will say that guy could phrase a phonebook tho and the lyrics were great all around. But just don’t get how it gets u guys all thigh-shakey???? I would guess, tho, being a morrissey fan the depressing country lyrics wouldn’t be toooo far of a stretch for u…in country there was a fight in a bar and his girlfriend or wife left him, with Morrissey he got hit by a steel bar and his wife left him so she could couple up with his girlfriend, and, oh yeah, his parents probably treated him ill as a young lad.

Yeah but Morrissey
wrote those lyrics beautifully. The whole thing with country lyrics appears to be trying to be clever rather than deep or provocative.
This is amazing:
And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well the pleasure, the privilege is mine
This is not:
Take the very breath you gave me
Take the heart from my chest
I’ll gladly take her place if you’ll let me
Make this my last request
Take me out of this world
God, please don’t take the girl

This is possibly my all time favorite lyric
Brooklyn like a sea in the asphalt stalks
Push out dead air from a parking garage
Where you stand with the keys and your cool hat of silence
Where you grip her love like a driver’s liscense
I’ve seen you
Fire up the gas in the engine valves
I’ve seen your hand turn saintly on the radio dial
I’ve seen the airwaves
Pull your eyes towards heaven
Outside Topeka in the phone lines
Her good teeth smile was winding down
Engine sputters ghosts out of gasoline fumes
They say You had it, but you sold it
You didn’t want it, no
I’m half drunk on static you transmit
Through your
True dreams
Of Wichita

Twitch, consider the pacing and tempo of these two songs – Awake My Soul – and Sigh No More. (Please listen to the whole songs, volume blasting) Imagine the passion they put into the performance as the song progresses. These guys are going all out balls to the wall playing those songs by the end, and the audience goes absolutely nuts. I’ve been there thrice and am looking forward to more. They’re a must-see-live band I’m telling you.

Pain is temporary.
She will get over the pain and is now an internet phenomenon and a legend. I will take that trade off.

I’ve done a few. Saving up the real drafts for closer to the season. Trying to figure out how many teams I should have, 2 or 3. Unfortunately in the evenings (like now) the mock drafts aren’t available because North America is sleeping :(
