Labour Day Open Ice
Well, it's Labour Day (Grr, the American spell-check wants me to spell it as "labor". Too bad, auto-spell-checker, I'm Canadian, and up here it's spelled "labour"!), which means that everyone's taking the day off and there's not really any shiny new NHL headlines to discuss.
- Added: SBN's List of unprotected players from every team for their Mock Expansion Draft.
- Canucks prospects training camp begins Friday, as we know. Can't wait for that to get going.
- ProHockeyTalk looks at the most "laborious" jobs in the NHL.
- What happened to the large salaries goaltenders used to get? (original article in French)
- When I get back from work later, I'll start organizing the NM fantasy leagues. Watch for a post in the late afternoon/early evening with more details.
Open topic for today: How do you all celebrate Labour Day?

I’ve done it at least 7 or 8 times now. I’ts my favourite flight. One more flight and then I get a free one. Which is funny, because I’ve never been to Hong Kong, yet I have a free flight on their flagship airline.

Thanks for joining.
You should still get some decent players auto-drafting.
Do you follow much of this football from NZ?

I went to the WAC Bennett
dam and checked out the dam and the 11th largest reservoir in the world the Williston Reservoir. It was cool.

you went and looked at dams and a reservoir? that sounds like such a bore to me.

Not just any dam
one of the largest earth fill dams in the world. It’s literally a giant pile of dirt. There is something cool about a man made lake that you can see from space and that holds 72 cubic kilometers of water. And being at the base of a 600 foot dam and looking all the way up to the top and realizing that there is a giant wall of water on the other side. Plus that dam along with the Peace Canyon dam further down river are capable of supplying 1/3 of the provinces power needs.

The tour is only 45 minutes
and you do get to go 500 feet underground and see electricity being produced.

“seeing electricity being produced” sounds cooler than I imagine it would actually be. Unless there’s tesla coils and lightning flying everywhere, it’s lame.
Although large turbines are sweet. Same with windmills, which there are a lot of where I am.
