PrintHey look, another preseason game! Tonight the Canucks host the Ducks at Rogers Arena, with a game start at 7:00 pm PDT on CBC (holy smokes, CBC is showing a preseason game?!?!?!). As Sean previewed earlier this morning, we have another mixed-up lineup this game, trying to see what other combos make chemistry. Here are some quick links before I run off to work again:
- Update (12:10 AM): Hodgson will play Sunday against the Oilers, and word is the Canucks have sent Taylor Ellington to Manitoba.
- Peter Schaefer is hoping to stay in Vancouver this time around.
- Wild goalie Josh Harding was seriously hurt in last night's preseason game against the Blues, and needed to be helped off the ice by teammates. It was confirmed this morning that he tore his ACL and MCL, will need surgery, and will likely be out for the year. So much for being "the best goalie in the Northwest division", eh?
- Some big names to have hit the waiver wires so far this morning include Michael Nylander, Wade Redden and Cristobal Huet. More will obviously come later today, so keep an eye on the reliable Twitter feeds.
- Could Nikolai Khabibulin make his return to the Oilers lineup for tomorrow night's game against us?

For all the grief he gets because of an idiot writer, I do feel sorry for the kid. He’s in a tough spot – I think he’s a better goalie than Backstrom – and now he’s hurt again. He needs a fresh start outside Minnesota badly.

That MG would consider a waiver-wire pickup? Or do we have the pieces and we just need to decide which ones? Perhaps it is the battle of the >1mill players that we really need to sort out and the waiver will have bloated salaries etc. Thoughts?
I doubt he plucks somebody now. Maybe on re-entry waivers later for an even better deal but even then I doubt it. We have all we need right now and cap to kill
