I did see this though...
From the official writeup from CDC:
Andrew Alberts led the Canucks in hits with six.
Good to see.
Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.
He made a lot of hits
but also cost us the first goal and was often scrambly. Took a stupid penalty too, although so did edler.

Which I attempt to reassemble...To see just who I might have been."

"I'm not a water dwelling mammal, where did you get that preposterous hypothesis, did steve tell you that?" FotC
I hope Burrows stops saying “yes!” everytime the Canucks score. I know he’s not in broadcasting, but it makes the whole commentary seem amateurish.
"Playin hurt, baby that don't faze me. I don't got time for pain. The only pain I've got time for is the pain I put on fools who don't know what time it is!"
Well it is an amateur doing the commentary right? Can’t fault the guy if he likes seeing his team score.

I know, I can’t fault him too much. It actually makes me feel like I have a friend in the room watching with me. I mean, I don’t pretend to have imaginary friends or anything…

how is that any different than ....
Tom Larscheid?
Not to open a can of worms here, but IMHO, his “fan-boi-ish” jingoism was absolutely amateur.
It’s not different
Robson: “Passes to Bure. He’s moving in…he SCORES!”
Larschied: “YES!!!”

True
I don’t really like any fan-boy-ish-ness in my commentary. Sure, get excited over a goal/save/play, just don’t go over the top to make it obvious you’re pulling for one team.

I liked Alberts. I really liked Hammer
Alberts seemed confident. He decked a lot of guys out there. Hammer is a really skilled player. Sean said in the last thread that he does a lot of things right in his own zone. I completely agree. Mason looked fast. Everyone looked like they haven’t played all summer, but that is OK because this is what the pre-season is all about.
The big question: Who is gonna be on the fourth line?
And Hammer
Does a lot of things right in the offensive zone too, from what I saw.
"Playin hurt, baby that don't faze me. I don't got time for pain. The only pain I've got time for is the pain I put on fools who don't know what time it is!"
you bet. He pinches smartly. Hopefully he keeps that up. Edler was saying after the game that he himself could pinch on occasion and knew that Hammer had his back. They connected really well

I was noticing that
Could be a good pairing to keep together if they are hitting it off right away.

Yeah so far, in the little we’ve seen, Hammer I really really like, Ballard a bit shaky. But way too early

Thing with Alberts
He needs to stop taking himself out of position for the sake of the hit. I can’t fault his aggressive play, but he needs to play smarter and choose his hits carefully.
Get the leash.
Seriously: chain him to the goal so he can reach the boards on his side, and NO FURTHER! I don’t even want him to touch the blue line.
I like him: but I like him as someone who clears the front of the net, period.
Heading: Cory Schneider concentrates on grabbing a pair of blue balls…
Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.
nice

THE GINGER SHOULD BE IN THE CIRCUS WHERE HE BELONGS
Just kidding of course. Don’t leave us Cory, unless it’s for a good return!

Best Defense Man Last Nite
Lee Sweatt
Worst Dman – errorhof, I like him alot but last night was a bad game for him.
The rest were ok but there was so much confusion in who goes where or takes what guy that it lead to quality chances.
Mayray looks very strong this year, I think he improves on his numbers. Good for Shirokov sticking up for Danny and getting his face punched in
Sweatt was good
I’d put Hammer up there as well. Agree on MayRay – his speed AND strength seemed to have improved.

I didn't see all
of the game last night, but from the bottom six I liked Bolduc. Not sure what his chances are of making the team as 4th line centre but I would prefer him to Perrault at this stage.
Also liked the work from Shirokov. He still seems to struggle a little with the physicality of the North American game but looks improved from last year and I like the way he stuck up for Daniel. I think he has an outside chance of making the opening night team in place of Burrows.
Thought the second line was also looking good, bar a bit of pre-season rust. Both Kesler and Raymond looked very quick out there.

About fighting
If Okie is as bad at fighting as he looked last time, I’d rather have Ripper. The mid-sized, skilled fighter makes for a better rallying cry than a great big guy losing every night. Really, does anyone in Edmonton get pumped up watching Stortini get smacked and have a “five minutes for dancing” penalty on top of it?
I seem to recall his fighting skills were less than ideal from some Florida commentators back when he was traded.

I prefer players who can play hockey. And Okie is better at the non-fighting elements of hockey than Rypien. And he hits heavier and harder.
Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.
As do I.
But there are those who want both, and fights happen. Fighting is often used as a chance to “rally the troops”, and it happens a LOT. If not fighting, then going out and running over the skilled players, or “setting the tone for the next game”, or “getting the fans involved” or what have you. Heck, you know the reasons why fighting happens!
And watching your big buy get beat whenever he responds to rough play, or goes out there to drop the gloves does nothing for either the team or the fans. I’m actually okay with having both around, but I’ve also seen the “we don’t have a heavyweight” complaint, and I don’t really think one’s important.
thanks
i ran a little late again today, then spent a few hours at school.
Nucks Misconduct chief babe, now with a new Twitter username.
Keep your stick on the ice. Seriously, keep it on the ice, or you'll take another hooking penalty and put the Canucks back on the kill!
Seems like
I missed quite the game.
