Young Stars Tourney - Day 1
O CANADA! Its that time of year again! Hockey!
The young stars tourney started last night in Penticton and the South Okanagan Event Center was packed to the brim! I heard it was the second largest selling, next to the Hockey Day in Canada event. You cant really tell from this picture, most people are in line getting beers after the long lineups at the door that wrapped all the way around the outside of the building. I don't think the SOEC planned for it to be so busy.

Canucks, Time Out. Pierre-Olivier Morin, Dan Gendur, Brad Smith, Adam Polasek

Schroeder, Sweat, Clark line.

Kevin Connauton's goal celebration
The one thing that I noticed last night was that Edmonton has a great young stars team, of course given the picks. The Canucks looked like they were out of sync, but in contrast, those Edmonton boys were constantly in the Canucks zone. Magnus Paajarvi was the best looking player on the ice to me, almost had a trick if not for a blocked shot.
Kevin Connauton was great for us. Looked dominant offensively and defensively. The top line of Schroeder, Sweat, Clark looked ok, but again a little out of sync.
I hope the Canucks will be able to bring it tonight. San Jose looked good, and tough, lastnight against Anahiem.
I’ve got some video too, some of the fights, I’ll try to post them too later tonight.
Nick Bonino, Ducks young star
Fight 1 - Don't know who, sorry, too many beers by now.
Fight 2 - See above...
The Sharks looked good and tough.... or Anaheim looked bad and tough, one of those games that was kind of hard to tell. It was back and forth, but the score didn't reflect that, it was 5-1 Sharks when I left with 8mins to go in the game.

Good stuff Jesse, thanks for sharing this!
Besides the first goal, Kevin Connauton did look solid. As did Bill Sweatt.

Ya, you can tell that Schroeder and Bill Sweat have an extra gear over most people. Really looking forward to tonight to see if they can light the lamp, they were close lastnight.

You know, I thought if they get a break or two ( 3 posts…no matter what Principe screamed about Connauton’s shot ) it would have been talked about different.
Connauton hit the post, side of net didn’t it Jesse?
It looked closer than what some wrote the next day. The Oilers were better, but not THAT much better, you know?
