Well, hockey games are back (even if it is just the prospects tournaments), and there's going to be a lot more to report on, which means that it's time to bring back the Squid. Some of you make not yet be familiar with the Squid, having only discovered the site over the summer. Well, it's very similar to the Open Ice except for that, instead of an open question I ask each day to help stimulate conversation, I have a pre-amble (such as this) before the links. When the Canucks actually play a game, this pre-amble will often include a quick preview of that night's game or a little recap of the game from the night before. The Open Ice over the summer was mainly to get everyone to continue checking the site and help furthur build the fabulous community we have here. I also encourage the use of the Squid as an open discussion thread, although you'll discover that open topics come up all over the place in the regular season posts.
Anyways, this afternoon is the very first game the Canucks prospects play in the Youngstars tournament, kicking everything off against the baby Oilers at 4:00 pm PDT. If you are around at that time (I have to work today, so I won't be here), check out Team1040 and Canucks.com for live coverage. Unless Sean or Yankee have other plans, you can use this post as a GDT.
Links after the jump.
- Of course we need a team preview, eh?
- Be sure to check out the other teams's official sites for more information on how their tournaments are going. For example, the Maple Leafs beat the Blackhawks 6-3 yesterday.
A review of yesterday at training camp in Penticton.
- It's time for our prospects to stand up and prove they deserve a spot in the big league.
- Rumours have it that the Aquilini family is interested in buying the BC Lions.
