I would be happy if this was the selection.

And am hopeful that Hamhuis signs somewhere other than here.

Gotta play 'em, might as well win 'em.

I can’t see Hamhuis signing here. No worries, there are other options out there to pursue.

I’ve heard more on the Hammer saga. Joys of living in the same town…

-Not surprised a deal with Philly isn’t close. He doesn’t want to sign there
-Wants to play in the West. I still think Anaheim but…
-the doors are not closed on the Canucks either I was told today.

That skit is OH so good. Major props to Bobby Ryan for manning up and playing along with it.

Great skit.

I love how Getzlaf kept calling him “Silver”.

And Nieds steals it at the end.

By the way, does it strike anyone that Pavelski signing a deal for 16M over 4 years as a great deal by the Sharks?

Awesome job by the Sharks to lock him up. I’m sure he would have gotten a contract the Sharks just couldn’t match if he reaches RFA.

by Vancouverguy on Jun 24, 2010 9:49 PM PDT reply actions

Yeah definitely a great deal

But Marleau…6.9 mill is what he would have gotten anywhere else, but I still get the feeling like its too much and he may have handcuffed the Sharks.

I'm not convinced

He had a good year and a fantastic playoffs – but so did Chris Kontos. If they’re paying $4 million for a 60-point player, I can’t say that’s worth it. Then again, he’s only 25 and should hopefully improve on his average.

Marleau, on the other hand, has had one bad year out of the last five. You’re right in that it’s an awful lot of money on one line, though.

by Thursday on Jun 24, 2010 10:46 PM PDT up reply actions

I wouldn`t mind taking a bet on Pavelski to have the post-season as his platform to develop into a consistent, high-end player.

Marleau is awfully consistent, but if the Sharks couldn`t get to the Stanley Cup with the current group, why are they trying again…. and again…. and again…. with the same players? The biggest change might be Nabokov, is that what they`re basically pinning their post-season failures on?

by Vancouverguy on Jun 25, 2010 12:52 AM PDT up reply actions

I don't think Nabby

Is the only reason they don’t make it all the way…all around good guy Dany Heatley isn’t all that much help either.

That said, Nabby does shit the bed significantly sometimes.

Certainly one definition of insanity, yeah. Shaking up the team is a good idea, but it’s going to be hard to get full value for some of those players and still fit salaries in!
