A Bit of Squid (Links) - April 8th

PrintAt many other NHL blogs here at SBNation, they put up daily posts filled with links to excellent reading material. I have found lately that I am finding quite a few stories and links that I'm adding to the comments in the Morning Coffee and game preview posts, but they don't seem to get much attention. Because of this, I am going to try doing these link posts that we see everywhere else. Welcome to the very first (and hopefully not the last) "Bit of Squid"!
These first few posts will be subject to finding a good format, so please just go with it. Also, if anyone ever finds more links, you can always drop them in the comments and I can add them to the post (I myself find links throughout the day). I will try my best to include as many links involving the Canucks as I can.

There is nothing I can appreciate about Keith Tkachuk except that in his prime he was an excellent power forward. But I’ve always hated the guy.

thanks for all the thumbs up, everyone.
i was wondering if A Bit of Squid was the right name for it. wanted something to do with the team (ex Five For Howling calls their links “Coyote Tracks” and the Cannon calls theirs “Shrapnel”), so i looked up what orcas eat, and the first 2 things listed were fish and squid.

It’s going to suck when Modano retires. And with him, Lehtinen and Turco most likely gone after this weekend, the Stars I grew up with are pretty much gone.

Yeah, we had that moment at the end of last season. Wasn’t Ohlund the last of the “old guard”? Last to have played in the Messier years, if I recall correctly.
Looking at that 99-00 roster, here’s some things to remember:
Felix Potvin played the most goalie games that year with 34 (Along for the ride was Weekes, Snow, Schwab, and Michaud)
Steve Kariya played 3 more than Ohlund, with 45 games. Ohlund still had one more point, with 19.
Greg Hawgood played 79 games, and I have no idea who he is.
And a distinct lack of Trevor Linden.
