Yeah…Pierre is a pip huh? Like on the second Hab goal. He is all up on talking about Lapierre and his hit and such, when it was Green ( who had a bad game ) who made the mistake overplaying the hit and not worrying about the puck.

I get what his partner said about “we have the benefit of slo mo”…but that was a pretty weak way to call off a goal.

I hope that guy works our series and calls Buf as close….

I kinda think they should still be playing.

And yes, Halak is a freak. A 9th rd pick freak to boot.

I thought the culprit on that play for the Caps

was whoever it was, 77 I think, who was coasting back into the zone while Moore went hard to support the puck and Lapierre. But your point about Pierre is valid.

Yeah…Corvo. You would think he would have a bit more giddy up in the closing minutes down one, but maybe in Washington they are used to giving their Norris candidate two guys to deal with….good point.

I coulda sworn it was Carlson who didn't get back on that play

He’s 74, so I could be mistaken. Either way, both D-man botched that badly. Once again, Mike Green disappears in the playoffs… and if the Norris voting included playoff performance, it would be all Doughty.

by HungryHungryPanda on Apr 28, 2010 8:27 PM PDT up reply actions

It was Carlson with the lack of backcheck. Rookie mistake.

And Green’s disappearing act solidifies why I didn’t want him on Team Canada.

It was shocking how they left Green alone there. The Caps are a tremendous offensive team, but they need to learn at least the rudiments of defensive structure.

I think it will be Doughty for the Norris.

Sorry

but Semin, Green and BB are all very good at their respective jobs. They aren’t the reason the team went 1-33 on the PP. They are all part of the reason but I don’t think you make too many changes in Washington. Go out and get a Turco or someone like that to mentor Varlamov or use Varlamov to go get a true number 1 goalie. They need more depth on D and could use a Hamhuis type guy. Then they are fine. They are close to being a dominant team you don’t need to move pieces just bring in a couple.

They have every right to be a little pissed. The more I think about it, the more I don’t like the call on the disallowed goal, considering the contact they have allowed in the playoffs so far.

But they did call more G.I penalties in our first round series too.

Maybe there was a memo or something.

Pittsburgh?

After the events prior to tonight, I’m not sure they would want to play Montreal at all.

If Washington wins, they end up playing the 6th seed, Boston. Boston vs Habs, the events are debatable.

Ya, I’d rather face the Habs, just because of their lack of offense, but that was an awesome display of team-defense and outstanding goalkeeping. 41 saves and 39 team block shots as a team, is one hell of a stat.

With that said, I’m willing to bet the first game won’t end up well for the Canadiens. Can you imagine the inevitable let-down game after such a huge series win?

Oh gosh, I’d literally laugh out loud at an all-Canadian final. Just ’cause nobody expected it.

That and most of the series’ viewers will be guaranteed north of the border, if not all. Hahaha.

The travelling would be funtimes.

Canucks vs. Canadiens?

That would be hilarious! Talk about your formal vs informal – even in team names.

Yeah, I’d pay for that. Actually, I’d pay to see shots of Bettman with a three-day growth putting on a rambling, mostly incoherent press conference; mumbling something about “the sport returning home to where…” then blowing a big raspberry into the mic and collapsing in in a drunken, depressed stupor.

Yeah. That I’d pay for!

I'm hoping

the Hawks won’t let that happen either

I'm rooting...

…For a Bruins/Habs Eastern Final. Lots and lots of great footage of those match-ups, yeah?

In the West, Vancouver-Anyone, really. All four teams in the West are, I think, stronger than anyone but Pittsburgh out East. Boucher’s going to have to stand on his head to win the next one…

by Thursday on Apr 28, 2010 8:47 PM PDT reply actions

Bruins-Habs would be sick as hell! Any money that the series ends because of a TMM penalty. :P

For the record, if the Canucks make the Stanley Cup Finals, we are now guaranteed to have home ice advantage over whomever makes it form the east. Go Canucks Go!

by Beantown Canuck on Apr 28, 2010 9:26 PM PDT reply actions

Hasn’t the West clinched home ice? The West’s lowest seed, Detroit, has more points than the East’s highest seed, Pittsburgh.

Where do I board the Canucks bandwagon at? Both my teams eliminated within 24 1/2 hours of one another. I hate every team left but yours.

Which was the other one?

and welcome aboard…there is seating on the upper levels of the bandwagon, but I think we are going to have to build another level and max out the springs….its getting fuller!

I would like the window seat, 5th row, left side. Thank you.

Save a spot for my girlfriend, recent Canuck-fan-convert. I’m dragging her on board. (Forcibly if I have to. That, and she has access to lower-bowl tickets in Game 2.)

by Vancouverguy on Apr 28, 2010 11:04 PM PDT up reply actions

She may have to sit on your lap as it fills up, but that should be OK right?

/jucky bugger

…you mean Game 4 tho’…or are going to Chicago?

We could play a real fun game

with this sentence…“Save a spot for my girlfriend, recent Canuck-fan-convert. I’m dragging her on board”

So many fun words we could re-arrange. Girlfriend, drag, force, etc etc. The sentence you wrote is probably the least offensive way all of those words can be included in the same sentence.

Does anyone know how or where one would be able to watch games six and seven in Amsterdam? It looks like I’ll have to stay up pretty late.

Wow that’s a great question. I wish I knew…just because I spent high school in the Hague so I wanted to show off my Dutch knowledge.

…annnnnd I failed.

I figured I’d have to watch online, but it would be nice to actually catch a game on the boob tube.

Seeing as how you’re in Amsterdam, your new nickname is Dutch. Congrats!

Poop. That’s a shame. Oh well, I’ll make sure to have some brewskies on hand for the 4AM faceoffs I’ll be enduring. The things I do for this team!
