Update (2:44 PM): For the Kings, Scott Parse will replace Goon Rich Clune. Terry Murray is saying he is going to roll his 4 lines more than he has in previous games, which probably explains the addition of Glass by AV (beyond Grabner's futility.)

Update (2:40 PM): Canucks insert some grit into the lineup. Glass in, Grabner out.

WAACH'Cast and Missy have already previewed Game 6 and voiced their opinions here and here. I won't add too much to that except:

-The game starts at 6:00 PST. The Kings want the game over with earlier so they can have their funeral and everyone can go home early. (I'm kidding, but god may it be so!)

-Canucks kept Drew Doughty and Jack Johnson off the scoreboard last game for the first time. Helps only allowing 1 PP goal against I'd say.

-Is Jonathan Quick rattled now? That is the big question. If not, the Kings could bring this back to Vancouver for Game 7. I'm not getting cocky after a 7-2 win. One game at a time, especially when you have the damned media drumming up the Shane O'Brien incident where he showboated after beating on Wayne Simmonds in game 5. Argh. I don't like the showboating because it gives an opposing coach like Terry Murray a reason to act like a puss in front of the media by bitching about it and giving his team something to rally around. It's not a controversy! It's a losing coach being a wimp and trying to light a fire under ass of his squad!

Star-divide

-12 different Canucks scored at least a point in Game 5.

-Samuelsson is a glorious basterd. His 7 goals leads the NHL right now and ties him for the Canucks' record for most goals in a series with Pavel Bure I believe. He says he feels good about himself. He's playing loose.

-I don't see why Andrew Alberts won't play tonight. Hopefully he's found his groove in a Canucks uni. He did what he said he'd do last game: keep it simple.

-Well hot damn! Somebody finally won a game in this series after scoring the first goal! Somebody finally won a game when leading after the first period!

That is all. GO CANUCKS GO!

You do understand

though that a fanbase that cries wolf, recently a conspiracy to get LA into second round by disallowing a good goal, as often as we do is going to get a, arguably, well earned reputation.

Well I used to go to a lot of games

every season at GM Place and I found Nucks fans for the most part to be some of the worst fans in the league. I also used to go on the message board on CDC and found the majority of the fans over there were boorish loudmouth idiots. Whiners and complainers. Obviously that’s not the whole fan base and there are decent Canucks fans out there. That’s why this site exists for example.

In my experience and in my opinion the reputation is well earned in a lot of cases.

If your problem is with Canucks fans being stereotyped based on the worst portion of our fanbase then your problem is really with our society and human nature.

Like I said

it’s just in my experience. And it’s anecdotal evidence. But from what I have experienced there are more Canucks fans that are idiots than other teams. Just from what I have seen. That’s why I like it here.

yeah but what’s worse, the over-reaction of a journalist or small portion of the fan base, or the stampede of journalists, bloggers and other haters to pile on? They’re all wrong

Agreed. Also, bloggers announcing that the team they’ve been blogging about all year has no chance of winning the championship, just before the playoffs begin, after a very successful regular season. All of the above is crap!

by Beantown Canuck on Apr 25, 2010 4:23 PM PDT up reply actions

There’s a diff between saying there is “no chance” and “I doubt they win it all”. To me, there is always a chance. Anything can happen. But I didn’t pick the the Canucks to win this year. Is that a problem?

by Sean Zandberg on Apr 25, 2010 4:25 PM PDT up reply actions

apparently it’s because you didn’t say it two weeks ago…

As I’ve said before, not predicting them to win is different than saying “I don’t believe they can win” and again, it’s also different then the tamer option you just presented of “I doubt they win it all”. To, reiterate, what your colleague WAACH said was “I don’t believe they can win”. Which is the same as saying “I think they have no chance.” And that declarative statement was the opening salvo of the post, so I don’t think I’m treating it unfairly at all. But we’ve been over this before. I just don’t want you to try and crawl back and muddy what it is that was actually written. He said he didn’t think the Canucks had a chance of winning. Period. I did not appreciate it one bit and I still don’t.

So is conveniently editing out the majority of the actual article down to a sentence that no longer represents the spirit or focus of the article…

If I was AV I wouldn’t change a thing. Grabner may be futile but remains a threat IMO.

Because that worked so well for them at the end of the last game. Still, it’ll make for an interesting game.

I am in the ‘Canucks fans for common sense and an end to the media bashing our fans and team’
Botch didn’t write the article
Shoals is barely coherent…
either way I am sick of seeing us get called names for the things that other teams fans get referred to as ‘passionate fans’ when they do them

Are you sure it’s not just a generalization? Is that so bad? We generalize other fan bases all the time. Hell, we even generalize refs and management

by Sean Zandberg on Apr 25, 2010 4:01 PM PDT up reply actions

it is a generalization and it’s wrong…
I try not to do that… am I guilty of it sometimes? yes.
Does that mean I shouldn’t rail against the onslaught lately? No…
