"It (the Olympics experience) was really intense. The most intense thing I have ever been a part of," he said. "I am human, like everyone else and I went through a lot in the last month and a half. After it all, it’s hard sometimes emotionally to get back up for things."
"I know I will be there when it counts," Luongo said after the Canucks beat the Ducks Wednesday. "I am not worried about it, although I know that people are panicking all over the world. That’s how I feel, anyway."

I really like Lu.
Hahaha.
I know that people are panicking all over the world
I’m a believer, Bob!
Me too…I found the article was one of Botch’s better ones.
Lui will be OK.
Bring on the Dance!!!
"I’m not asking for first-line money or top six money," Burrows said. "I don’t think it changes anything. I still consider myself a checker. That’s what I think I am first. That’s how I want to be paid. "If I can generate offence once in a while, I think it’s a plus for the team." Alex Burrows...Mar/09
I'm really not worried

Agreed.
He doesnt have to stand on his head, just not shit the bed and throw us under the bus like he did in Edmonton and Chi-Town (Game 6 last playoffs). If he does that Ill be contented.

He gets paid 8 mil per to stand on his head.
He can be average during the regular season and I won’t (have not) complain(ed).
Step up time happens Game 1-Round 1. This doesn’t happen, we may have well signed Roloson for 2 mil to get the same result (compliment to Roloson)

What am I saying is he doesn't have to be perfect...
But he shouldn’t be allowed to be a complete failmonster. Fortunately this year the Canucks are a team who can score like there is no tomorrow, so if he lets in a bad goal, we can counter that will 3 good ones. But that one bad goal should not snowball into 7 bad ones and/or a short post-season.

I understand
I’m always one of the first to deflect blame from a goalie. Recent events with Lu haven’t swayed me from that.
But, in the salary cap era, if you are going to allocate 20 percent of your payroll to a goaltender( I never disapproved of this), you damn well better get your money back out of it. Otherwise you could pay almost any other goale 2 mil and funnel the other 6 into your roster.
We went through years of having a serviceable goalie (Cloutier) in front of an excellent offensive team , which yielded excellent regular season results. Come playoff time, it wasn’t enough.
I believe Luongo is the guy that can take this team the distance, but for what was dropped in his bank account, I want shock and awe come playoff time. Anything less, will not be acceptable. Otherwise you have Cloutier at 4 times the price.
Relying on opening up the offense may work for a few games, but it will not take you deep into the playoffs. Buckling down in your own end, solid goaltending and scoring goals at opportune times get you to the dance. Special teams are about as important as anything else there too.

We're Canucks fans, Chuckles
Some would like us to think we have al the time in the world…

I agree with your point. But want to note that Lu’s cap hit is only $5.3 mill, so he’s 10% of the cap, not 20. So if you’re talking about a $2mill goalie… well that saves us $3mill and change towards otehr players. (Actual salary is irrelevent in Canuck land.. Aquilini doesn’t care).

Nitpicking...
That cap hit of $5.3M doesn’t come into effect until next year, his cap hit is $6.75M right now. Either way it’s not 20% but around 11% right now.
