I've said it before and I'll say it again...

…we better not be trading that dude.

Knights, Canucks, Dolphins, Jays and Raptors all the way.

Why on earth would they trade him? Where does this even come from?

First and Second line centres locked up long term and a need to address the defense next year.

So don't get violent and don't get caught with your head down, the night she stole the moon.

Does anyone think it’s possible that CoHo could move to the wing in order to play in the top 6?

Of course, we know Kes could move there if need be.

in the thread about his toe, my first thought watching this vid was “This kid’s skating is in doubt?”

Unless that dman was Brad Marsh’s kid, Cody showed not just great hands but great wheels as well, broken toe and all…

I’m not trying to take anything away from CoHo but I’ll be more impressed when he does that against better competition.

He only beat some undrafted 20-year old who probably couldn’t even make the AHL.

Again, not trying to discount that it was a nice goal and effort.

My first thought when I first watched that goal, after reading all of these comments, was what’s the big deal? He won a race for a loose puck because he is better than the other guy and wanted it more. Then he fell for a moment before getting back up and scoring with a decent back hander. Good goal and great effort by Hodgson but I didn’t think it was overly spectacular.

I mean, it’s cool that he controlled the puck while on his knees and while getting back to his feet and it was a quick release on the back hand. But if he couldn’t do those two things he wouldn’t be a top prospect.

Hodgson didn’t win the race to the puck; the d-man was faster and j-u-s-t got there first but went down reaching and kinda slid outta position whereas Hodgson showed better balance and presence of mind to grab the puck and score the goal.

This all seems in line with the book on Hodgson, that he’s no speedster but has determination and good hockey sense. If you watch the replay real closely, you can see that Hodgson had the initial jump on the puck and mighta broke clear but instead the d-man caught up again – seemed to have a longer stride that covered the ice faster, I thought – before ultimately losing his man. Excellent finish by Hodgson, too, nice high backhand.

I could see him getting the 3rd-line center position next year and then we see what happens after that. Schroeder’s a center too. Move him to wing? What about Grabner and Shirok, not to mention existing fw’s like Hansen and Johnson?

The replay I am seeing Hodgson won the race. He starts from inside his own blue line, well inside it, and you can’t see the D man. Then from the red line to the puck Hodgson goes from a stride behind to a stride ahead.

Tough to be certain cuz not everything is on camera throughout, but I saw Hodgson “behind” at first but already at full speed or pretty close, whereas the d-man, tho ahead, had to turn (I think, it was initially off camera) and to get his speed, giving the early advantage to Hodgson who saw his opening and took it. Hodgson had made up the distance and pulled even by around center ice, and if he were faster than the d-man he’d’a pulled clear.

But instead, from there, the d-man, now up to speed himself, recovered and seemed to gain, just enough to get position on the play. He then blew the play and lost his man etc, but as for the footrace part of it, I’d bet on that d-man in a straight race over Hodgson; not by much, tho, maybe a half-stride from blueline to blueline if they each started from the same position.

(But I’d bet on Hodgson to make the better play!)

The opposite of serious is not funny; the opposite of serious is unserious.

I’m just not seeing it. If you pause at 1:41 you will see Hodgson a half stride behind at the blue line and again pause it at 1:42 and to me Hodgson is at the puck a half stride before the D man. To me Hodgson made up a full stride from the red line to the puck. That’s pretty good. Still think it’s not that spectacular of a goal, but nice to see some speed from Hodgson. Guess his back is OK.

Funny, I wouldda said the opposite: that it was a spectacular goal.

I think the key to our disagreement on the footrace is my assumption that the d-man had to turn and get up to speed even as Hodgson was already flying, but that’s an assumption as to what happened off camera.

I am sure he did. But if he is a hockey player good enough for the WHL it shouldn’t take him more than 2 or 3 at most strides to get to full speed so I am sure he was at top speed when he was shown on camera for the first time.

yeah, I know. He would have been given a proper diagnosis and time to heal instead of making it worse by being pressured to perform.
