Schroeder to turn pro? Maybe...
The article says that Jordan looks like he's leaning toward coming out of college this year, which would mean he could immediately be sent to Winnipeg for the remainder of this season. I would really like to see what he can do.

Wouldn’t mind at all. The Moose could use the help, and he could use a dash of experience. Who knows, with a long run he could really contribute.
I am not so sure you want him to come out. I can’t see him doing much with the AHL or in the NHL right now. I watched him play against the Fighting Sioux this past weekend and he was invisible and I don’t know if he even had a scoring chance in the slot or not.
The sooner a guy can start playing against better talent, whether it be the AHL, WHL or whatever, the better. If he is too small right now for the NHL then he needs to get out there against full grown men and learn how to avoid them and use his size and speed to his advantage.

I don’t think they can do that.
Players can’t play both in the CHL and University hockey.

Sure they can. It happens all the time. In fact one of our prospects, Kevin Connauton, played for Western Michigan last year and the Vancouver Giants this year.

Hmm, the rule I’m thinking of must only apply to the OHL.
I know that my former teammate had to choose between Western Michigan and the OHL. That was back in 2002ish though, so maybe the rule has been changed since? Or there is no rule against going from University to CHL?

Once a player has signed with a CHL team, he’s considered professional by the NCAA, and is no longer eligible to play. There is no rule barring a player from leaving school to join a CHL team.
I believe Schroeder doesn’t turn 20 til after next junior season starts, which would make him eligible for at least one season, maybe two. Hard to believe he’d forego his college eligiblity just to play junior.
Please allow me to adjust my pants, so that I may dance the good time dance, and lead the onlookers and innocent bystanders into a trance.
Lots of guys do it when they realize they aren’t getting better playing NCAA and can improve more in junior.
