All About Rome
Rome's wife, Adrianne, delivered little Grayson — all six pounds, 14 ounces of him — on Friday, Feb. 26. That gave Rome the chance to at least cradle his son in his arms for a few hours before the team left the next day on the post-Olympic portion of its epic 14-game journey.
It's great when stories like that of Aaron Rome get some attention, especially behind the success of the Sedins, Kesler, Samuelsson, etc. Rome deserves some spotlight too.

Closing my eyes...
…not looking at who wrote this…must be Zandberg… :)
Bingo!
Kidding dude. Happy for Rome, I really am. Let’s hope he keeps it up.
Knights, Canucks, Dolphins, Jays and Raptors all the way.
I found his baby story moving. He’s fighting so hard for an NHL roster spot and has to leave his newborn the next day to go on the rest of the road trip. Then he plays so steady on that trip. Yep, got a soft spot for Rome, no doubt about it.
Good point
I’m in the middle of Fleury’s book right now.
Let’s just say that Aaron and Theo’s stories about being a new father on the road have some….ummm….contrast.
Calgary may as well have signed Theo this year with the way that team is looking now. I’m sure he could’ve put up better numbers than Craig Conroy.
agreed.

Nice story, it’s always nice to see a hockey vet getting a steady crack at the NHL and making the most of it. Hopefully it serves as a wake-up call for some folks who are maybe a little too complacent about their status as roster locks on the Canucks. I’m hoping SOB comes out gangbusters when he gets back in the lineup.

SOB sitting is probably the weirdest part of this for me. He has exceeded expectations this year to the point where he is in the running for biggest turnaround this season (i’d call Raymond more of a breakout year). Logging big minutes, making start plays, moving his feet. Most importantly he sits at 77 PIMs in 58 games, compared to 196mins in 77 games last year.
I was a little pissed when we re-upped him this year, but now have a completely different opinion. Like you say, I think he will come out hard when he gets his chance. I just hope in the meantime no one sticks a mic in his face and asks him how he feels about sitting.

Depth
Also, said it before and I’ll say it again – Gillis has done an amazing job of shoring up the depth on our roster. Think about how important guys like Rome, Glass, Raycroft, and even Nolan Baumgartner have been at various times this year. Even Lukowich was clutch in a few games.
Depth guys are so key to keeping an even keel during the inevitable periods of injury that occur during a grueling regular season. The fact that we’re third in the West having lost Daniel, Luongo, Mitchell and Bieksa for long stretches of the season is a testament to the work that MG has done in bolstering this roster.

Hope so
I think he’s hit the wall in college and the next step up should bring a lot more out of him.
Make him bunk with Keaner.

Keane’s wife might have something to say about that…

I think I heard a little while back that his University team decided to play more defensive hockey. So that would explain his points dropping off, but he still led the team FWIW.
Joining the Moose is a good idea to see where he stacks up at the next level before the off-season and get some pro experience.

Doubt it
Poor woman has had to move at least 10 times.
Probably doesn’t give half a shit as long as he stays in one place.

Yay, babies! Gotta love ’em.
Nice to hear a depth player get some press love.

Congrats to Romer.
Babies are one of the few things that warms my icy heart, aside from the Flames missing the playoffs of course.
