@GAHHH, re: bert
downie’s “hit” was horrible and dirty and suspension-worthy, cannot deny that. it’s just that, even if downie had succeeded, and absolutely destroyed sid’s knee and ended his career, it still wouldn’t be as bad as gettin’ ’tuzzi’d, because head/neck injuries >>>>>>knee injuries.
Yeah, but Crosby is CROSBY and who the hell is Steve Moore?

+1 on that. They have to take that into consideration.
by Vancouverguy on Mar 14, 2010 8:46 PM PDT up reply actions
Has nothing to do with that. It was a conscious decision that he was going to end someone’s hockey career, doesn’t matter if it was Crosby or a useless calgary flame…it’s still a horrible thing. As was the bert thing.

by thelastjohnny on Mar 14, 2010 8:48 PM PDT up reply actions
Yeah I know…that’s a major problem with the NHL. If there’s a silver lining to the Cooke, Ovi and Downie moves, we can hope it’s that it forces a change in disciplinary proceedings…
"Hope you like pancakes, Norway..." Morgan Freeman
"you'll be playing in england the rest of your career" Sir Alex Burrows
I don’t disagree about the injury…it’s the intent that i disagree with. I guess no one knows for sure but Bertuzzi, but I find it hard to believe he wanted to kill a guy. HAving said that, it appeared to me that Downie very definitely did try to injure Crosby today.
"Hope you like pancakes, Norway..." Morgan Freeman
"you'll be playing in england the rest of your career" Sir Alex Burrows
Steve Downie has tried…but he just can’t keep down that inner “dirty player”.
Interesting question. Who gets the more severe punishment…Downie or Ovie?
Murphy ; "You finished with the Twins against Nashville, and AV elected to keep you guys together for today, were you happy with the decision?"
Mikael Samuelsson ; " I was happy with it...Oh yeah. Sure"
Pretty obvious it’s Downie. Both are repeat offenders, but Downie’s was really behind the play compared to Ovie’s.

I still have not forgiven Dan Boyle or Brad Lukowich for knowing Nickelback/going to their shows. Granted, it could just be because the lead singer dude in Nickelback is a huge fan of theirs and invites them to their shows, but still.
At least Boyle’s general awesomeness makes up for it. And Luko sang a mean death metal Jingle Bells. So there’s that.

Yeah I kinda feel the same way. Not happy it happened, but the Hawks without Campbell is a plus for our team.

Good point
Maybe he won’t be that big a loss. I hear that Keith kid is okay.

Heard that too, but I don’t know. “Duncan Keith” isn’t the most intimidating of names.

I remember there was a long conversation on McCovey Chronicles (the Giants SBN blog) about how guys with two first names tended to be douchebags. It was pretty much proven.

I hate Campbell as much as any Sharks fan, and boo him diligently when he touches the puck, but man does that suck. They really have got to crack down on these dangerous hits – it’s not doing the game any favors.

Anaheim beating San Jose, 3-1 late in the third. I want to say it’s a preview of the playoffs, but Thorton has the lone Shark goal.

Uhhh, that game happened a while ago, buddy. Ended 4-2, Ryan with the empty-netter and McGinn with a last minute goal after Nabokov went back into the net. Almost became 4-3 from a Boyle/Heatley chance, but that was not to be.
And not a fan of the “choke in the playoffs” shot, got to say.

Sharks have really only choked the past two or three seasons, if that. Every other season they’ve completely exceeded expectations.
But yeah, I guess that’s what we get for having a good team that for whatever reason just doesn’t get it done in the playoffs. At least we can usually win a series, unlike a certain Albertan team ;)
Also, being the only Bay Area team that makes the playoffs rocks. Hockey actually gets attention in the media!

It’d be awful if none of those teams made the playoffs. Hockey would disappear quite fast, it would seem.

Ehh, the lack of any other pro sports team in San Jose means that there will always be a passionate base. The Sharks have never had less than 90% capacity, even in their dark “71 losses in a single season” years, which is pretty cool (although, a long-running joke that a radio broadcaster made was that the Sharks only had “17,496 fans,” which was full capacity for the Tank). Plus, San Jose State University’s club hockey team is going to the national championships, which means that kids who are growing up in San Jose (because, frankly, it’s mainly San Jose residents who go to SJSU) are growing up loving hockey.
It’s the rest of the Bay Area that might not pay attention, and they’re the ones that have all the national attention (San Jose is quite a bit bigger than San Francisco, and much bigger than Oakland, but doesn’t even get half the press). They focus on football, baseball, and basketball. Hockey is an afterthought.
Sorry, I have a little bit of an inferiority complex, haha.

No worries, I know you guys have a passionate fan base. I hear the Shark Tank is a tough place to play in, and there’s usually a reason.

Third most disruptive fans in the league, after Philly and Montreal, as voted by the players. Not sure what constitutes as disruptive, but hey, I’ll take it.

In Philly it’s booing everyone.

We boo Pronger and, more recently, Campbell. Also, we boo the word “star” in the Star Spangled Banner when we play the Stars. Before every anthem, a guy from section 209 says, “Hey [insert team’s city here]!” and the rest of the arena replies, “YOU SUCK!” (sometimes the anthem singers get rattled, haha). And do the goalie taunt quite a bit (“Tuuuuuuurrrrr-cooooooooo” “Hiiiiiiiiiiiiillllleeeeeeeerrr”). Once we booed so loud we got the refs to review a goal. Oh, and the “DUCKS SUCK” and “BEAT LA” chants are quite frequent when we play the respective teams.
But other than that (which actually isn’t much), we’re pretty docile. Loud, but not all that rowdy.

Treaty of Burrsailles
OK yoata here is what I am willing offer on behalf of MG….he will publicly admit that he screwed up the Hodgson situation and apologize to Hodgson, Canucks fans and yoata. He will also give credit to Burke and Nonis for leaving him a team that was in a better position than he believed it was in when he arrived. He will also bring you in as a special advisor during next years trade deadline and allow you to make at least one deal.
In return you will publicly forgive MG for signing Sundin and in all future posts you will refer to him only as Sundin or Mr Mats. You will also give MG credit for the Ehrhoff deal because even though it was a no brainer trade that any GM would have made MG was the only GM who made it. You will also have to admit that Chris Osgood isn’t really that good.(I don’t know why he threw that part in but he did)
Do we have an accord?

but is it a deal breaker?
Maybe there is enough wiggle room there. He gets one Souptin a month, and Gillis doesn’t have to yoata personally, .
And the wording of the Hodgson apology can be in the classic apology/non-apology style.
Get the deal done guys. Think of the children!
