******************************

Do the Canucks have it in them to win the final game of the road trip? Or are they going to mail it in, with a sweet flight home awaiting them after the game? I do know the Canucks have thrown in the towel at the end of road trips more than once this season: the 7-2 loss to the Ducks in October and more recently, the suckage against the Wild in the final game before the Olympics.

Star-divide

Orca_kill_coyotes_medium_medium

Andrew Raycroft will play in net tonight to give Luongo the rest, as there are plenty of games left to play in the last few weeks of the season. This coming on the heels of what Lou called his worst played period of his life (period 1 against the Avalanche). But hey, you're a pro, Lou. Bounce back next game. What a win that was by the way. I'm still chuckling about it today.

6 points for the Sedins last game. I think they are coming alive, finally. Right in the nick of time. Let's see if Samuelsson plays on their line tonight. He scored 3 goals and 1 assist against the Avs and is my hero of the damned week.

Phoenix has won 2 games in a row, but have not played since Saturday...a 4-0 win over the lame Ducks. New Dog Wojtek Wolski has 2 goal and 1 assist in his first 2 games in Phoenix. Lee Stempniak has 1 goal and 1 assist with his new team. Derek Morris has 1 assist. These guys add to the depth that Phoenix already had. They aren't great players per se...but any line can strike at any moment.

Alright, a couple clips for ya:

Taylor Pyatt Destroys Rome:

Burrows' hat trick goal. His 2nd hatty in 2 games.

It's ok to laugh at this now, right? Right?!

How much do the Canucks want this one? We will find out shortly. Do it, boys!

So early. Like, keener early.

Hmm, 4-2 Nucks. Kes FTW. I’d say Hansen, but that’s too obvious :P

I’m gonna go with a high from the last game carrying over to a decisive win tonite. 5-2 Vancouver, and Burrows is going to get the winner. Sorry Jank, u might get one tonite but not the winner.

I love that old sheepdog/coyote cartoon. When they punch the clock and head home afterwards slays me….after ’dog has spent all day beating him down.

Lets say. 4-2 Canucks.

Mr Shane O’Brien with the GWG. Just because it has to happen sometime!

5-3 Canucks. Winner comes via a Mr. Everything deflection at 17:43 of the second period beating Bryzgalov to the stick side.

4-2 Canucks. Daniel.

According to many, this game is as close to being almost unwinnable as it gets. After the unbelievable effort last night against Colorado, do the Canucks have anything left in the tank? And do they have the drive and motivatioin, being so close to home, and just wrapping up an road trip that turned out to surpass anybody’s expectations?

I say no, and it will take a small miracle to win this one. And Phoenix is a better team than Colorado, in my opinion.

So, I go with the safe prediction, 3:2 Phoenix.

3-2 Canucks Kesler Game Winner

by Laharl on Mar 10, 2010 12:45 PM PST reply actions

The Canucks should be fresh tonight as they only played 2 periods last night. So, let’s go with the Canucks winning in a close one, 3-1, with Salo firing home the winner and Burrows with an empty-netter to clinch it.

by east_van_joe on Mar 10, 2010 1:07 PM PST reply actions

4-2 for the good guys, with Burr getting the winner on a tip-in (double points for not only picking game winner, but how the goal is scored, right?)

Also:

Let’s see if Samuelsson plays on [the Sedin] line tonight

Answer:
Well, duh.

by Beantown Canuck on Mar 10, 2010 1:12 PM PST reply actions

AV is quick to mix things up when there’s a problem, but he is hands off when things are working. He’s consistent that way from what I can tell. Which means Sammy is part of the Sedinery unless/until the amazing subsides. As long as those three are healthy and keep playing the way they’ve played much of the last couple of games, then they are a line.

by Beantown Canuck on Mar 10, 2010 1:54 PM PST up reply actions

Hope so

I called Burr deflection (stick side even).

I’ll raise you assists by Edler and Demo.

by kesrows on Mar 10, 2010 1:28 PM PST up reply actions

3-2 yoata ‘yotes, and let’s say wolski.

by Passive Voice on Mar 10, 2010 1:16 PM PST reply actions

Feenix takes the first half of the game 2-0. ’Nucks take the second half 4-1. Hansen benched, Glass with twins. Canucks compared to ’77 Habs. Fans stake out sidewalks for potential cup parades. Casual and Yoata embrace.

Please allow me to adjust my pants, so that I may dance the good time dance, and lead the onlookers and innocent bystanders into a trance.

Could be dangerous, but you know the Bruins will have had the league mention Big Bert’s name today, when talking about tomorrow’s game. (oh, is it next week? Still…same idea applies …)

Campbell already has his seats in Boston, one would think.

Yeah he does. But there is a reason he is the most beloved United player since probably Roy Keane or Eric Cantona. He puts his heart and soul on the line every match and works his ass off. He is like Kesler that way. He plays the way we all would if we were good enough. He loves to play football and you can tell.

Section…I may quote you on that in my next little personal blurb. I love it. He is indeed like Kesler.

I was thinking after watching the highlights ( game was not on SNET, they gave me RM / Lyon on all SNET channels….idiots! )…they have that same next level that they had in the Triple Crown year…the year escapes me.

But to me…as much as I absolutely love Rooney, its the other guys too.

Guys like Giggsy, Scholes, Park and especially the “Leg” Carrick. ( a harder shot in the EPL when he really steps into it? ?? )

But this isn’t about hockey…sorry Sean, for posting such off topic stuff!

LOL

The Treble was 1999…and no one loves Giggsy more than me, Scholes too. I am a big admirer of Patrice Evra as well. Really all of them except Nani, still flatters to deceive, are aces as far as I am concerned. United were on Setanta today. I PVR’d it and can’t wait to get home and watch the second half.

Scholes is a wonderful player, except for getting needlessly carded about every other European game. Can someone remind him that he doesn’t really have to play D, when all he does is get carded?

But he’s such an asset when breaking down the other team’s D.

Prediction

I have this feeling Wojtek Wolski is going to be amazing tonight. I mean, really great. That, combined with the fact the Canucks are at the bitter end of a long road trip, this game is shaping up to be one for the Dogs.

However the Cardiac Canucks don’t play for three solid days and finally have their destination flight as YVR. They might be excited to get home but all that happens after they skate around on another sheet of bad ice… you know, a sheet of ice where funny bounces happen.

I was watching the Thrashers/Hurricanes game Sunday after the Canucks beat the Preds. Since neither team’s television crews covered the game, the audio was from the Thrashers radio broadcast, the video was from the Atlanta Jumbotron. It made for a weird visual, and an even worse listening experience when play was halted. Thank god TSN blesses us by putting the game on their network, otherwise there’d be no way to see this game, because all of Phoenix’s camera operating and cut-rate sports anchoring is concentrated in pre-season baseball.

Canucks 4, Coyotes 1, Raycroft gets an offer from Cirque du Soleil after the game for standing on his head and Eff You Sweden pockets the game winner.

I haven’t read 1984, maybe I should dig into it. Can’t be any crazier than Animal Farm.

My random thought: Should I go to a restaurant to watch this game? Is it worth it to pay to see Raycroft?

Wasn’t sure how well the Iron fisting thing would go over. Was kinda hoping they didn’t have double entendres within Az state lines.

Looks like you made one of the two people that go on FFH reconsider their stance on it being an open forum.

Poor guy

The mere mention of there not being anyone there kinda made him snap.
I feel for him. Looks like a pretty good site with just no interest.
I vote if Sean or Mike screw up we send them there for a week.

I am sure it beats rainy days in the “Great Canadian Rainforest Province”.

Too hot in the summer?

I have to ask Travis, and not being mean about it…but what do you think of the Winnipeg/David Thomson ( one of Canada’s richest men ) rumors? Do they get any play down there?

No.

There were one or two fans that got all freaked from that buzz article but when they said something to the GM and COO at a team event the COO laughed so hard he gave himself a coughing fit.

In all fairness, I hear that a lot, that Phx is a nice place excepting the summer heat. Never spent any time there but would like to one of these winters. And the hockey games are cheap like borscht!

If only Sammy buried his shot in the shootout. I would’ve had 3 points.

Cooker gets nothing for the hit on Savard.

No fine, no suspension, no penalty.

At least Mitch`s hit was clean. Im baffled by the NHL once again.

Choosing to base repercussions on a precedent that was clearly incorrect doesn’t make any sense. Richards should have gotten a suspension on the hit on Booth, and Cookiie should have gotten a suspension on the one on Savard.

Booth fought Richards on the first game back… what happens to Cooke?

by Vancouverguy on Mar 10, 2010 6:46 PM PST reply actions

The thing they said was that the hits were similar.

Yet, to me, Cookie looks like he leads his shoulder through the head, whereas Richards at least tried to put his shoulder into Booth’s chest.

I have no problem with both now being illegal, as long as plays where a guy has the puck and is met head on (Mitchell’s hit ) are still in the game.

Yes Toew’s got concussed, but it was from the front, he had his head down…with the puck. And I think I remember reading that his was more the result of the hitting the ice, or the whiplash, than the blow itself.

Both the others, the shot happened two beats previous…and they came from the blindside. And the head was the first point of contact.

Wholeheartedly agree that the logic of basing it on an incorrect precedent is pretty baffling.

Cooke has his “Moore” moment. Hope he remembers back then…and at least fights withsomeone…if only to slake the Bruins’ bloodlust.

I just watched the video again and it looks like a perfect shoulder-to-shoulder hit and the whiplash probably hurt Toews the most since his head didn’t even touch the ice.
