Canucks recall Jannik Hansen from Manitoba
About time, I guess. Full story on the Vancouver Sun's site.
Quote from the Vancouver Sun:"VANCOUVER - The Vancouver Canucks recalled forward Jannik Hansen from the Manitoba Moose of the AHL Monday.
Hansen, 23, completed a five-game conditioning assignment with the Manitoba Moose, recording two points (0-2-2) and five penalty minutes, according to a news release.
Hansen rejoins the Canucks where he has appeared in 24 games and registered nine points (5-4-9) and six penalty minutes in 2009-10.
The Herlev, Denmark native was drafted by Vancouver 287th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft."

Wonder if he’s going to get to play.
So don't get violent and don't get caught with your head down, the night she stole the moon.
I would think so – otherwise why fly him all the way from Winnipeg to Florida? It will be interesting to see which line he goes on and whether this means an extended spell out of the team for Bernier.

Ha…only when matched up against giving Darcy some TOI does Bernier win out. Sheesh.

Oh no, Demitra’s gone back to Vancouver. It looked like he was going to start producing.

Demitra out for a few games

That hurts. He won’t be back until after the Olympics. I hope it’s nothing too serious and his family and friends are okay.

I’d put the top 2 lines back together and the rest:
Glass-Wellwood-Hansen
Hordi-RJ-Ryp
I just thought of a reason why Hansen was sent down. He needed to play in at least 5 of 9 AHL games prior to the Olympics so that he qualifies to play while the Games are going on. The Caps did the same with G Michal Neuvirth.

Correction
Hansen had to have spent 5 of the Canucks’ last 20 games with the Moose prior to the break.
Poutine & Meatballs
That makes sense
And I don’t mind your lines, but I don’t think we’re going to help Bernier by not playing him. And I still prefer him out there to Hordichuk. So I’d have him either on line 4 if you like Glass on line 3 (I don’t) or on line 3 and hope that he figures it out enough to be at least a “non-liability”. Glass on line 3 is a liability, in my books.
Knights, Canucks, Dolphins, Jays and Raptors all the way.
Yeah, I thought about Bernier drawing back in for Hordi too, wouldn’t mind that.
Glass didn’t seem to be a liability in the game-tying goal on Saturday. :)
Poutine & Meatballs
True, but...
…he sure was in the game’s first goal Saturday. :)
I get your point. I just think he’s a 4th line guy.
Knights, Canucks, Dolphins, Jays and Raptors all the way.
He wasn’t on the ice for Boston’s first goal. He was for the second goal (on PP) but is hardly at fault as it was a point shot tipped in.
Definitely agree. But some people will complain that Bernier is getting another “free pass” if he’s on the 3rd line again.
Poutine & Meatballs
Was he not in the penalty box, or am I getting my games mixed up?
Knights, Canucks, Dolphins, Jays and Raptors all the way.
Why is that? Am I missing something? A country can put any of its citizens on its Olympic team, right? I don’t get it.
/feeling kinda thick here
The opposite of serious is not funny; the opposite of serious is unserious.
Denmark didn't qualify for the tournament
They’re talking about Hansen being able to play down in Manitoba while the Olympics are on.
Denmark doesn’t have a team.
My guess is that it ensures some fairness/protection in the AHL. They don’t want a ton of NHLers coming in and playing during the break.
Poutine & Meatballs
Wouldn’t it be kind of cool though if you were a Moose fan and you got to watch Burrows, Mitchell and others play for a couple games during the break? I understand why they have that rule but from a fan perspective it is too bad they do. Plus I would love for Mitchell to have a chance to get some games under his belt during the Olympics. Although maybe he can on a conditioning assignment?

Not a bad idea.
I remember when Bieksa had a conditioning stint after his first lacerated calf injury. He only played one game and came back up. I don’t think too many NHL vets like playing down on the farm.
Poutine & Meatballs
I’m sure they don’t. But it would be perfect if Mitchell was ready to go for the first game after the Olympic break AND he was in game shape.

Hey, Denmark has a team, just not in the Olympics. The Danish national hockey team feature very prominently in one of my favorite hockey moments of my misspent youth. Their regulation loss to Norway, which sent Norway for the first time into the A group of the WC. It was a 2-2 tie until the dying seconds of the third. A long slapper from the blue goes in with 0.4s left on the clock. It was sent for review to check if the buzzer went before the goal was scored and stood. All two of us hockey fans in my neighborhood went wild.
That was one of Norway’s finest moments, up there with beating Brazil 2-1 in the 1998 soccer world championship and losing 2-1 to Canada in 2008 in Halifax.
