Canada and the USA swap boxing bags today. Let's see if Canada can do better against the Swiss than the Americans did. The USA beat them 3-1 on Tuesday. Who cares if the Swiss took us out in 2006? Irrelevant. Death is nigh. Everybody yodel every time Canada scores! You could have lots of practice. Oh, and forget you ever saw that Photoshop....

While surprising, that doesn’t really bother me at all. With that defense in front of him, the goalies really just need to be solid. And hopefully, we can keep it these teams shut out.

I want to hear some more talk about the lousy US team. You know, the one that dispatched this Swiss squad easily.
The one who’s pissing me off, by far, is Crosby. I wish he’d just shoot the damn puck. No stickhandling, no deking, just shoot the damn puck like the 40 goal scorer he is.
Holy crap, the only line that’s actually working, is the Sharks line. That, and the Richards/Toews line has been pretty damn solid.

So true.
Willie Mitchell got a huge ovation at Safeco Field when he threw out the opening pitch at an M’s/Jays game last summer.
But wouldnt a team in Seattle be great? With no basketball anymore and only a football team in major sports, that market is screaming for an NHL team, imo.
Preseason game
If they ever schedule a preseason game @ the Rose Garden (which is a lot more hockey friendly than Key arena in seattle) i’ll be there. I don’t care if they make it a Sharks home game so not to take away any dates from GM Place, just grow the fan base. Get on TV in Washington State. What is there to compete with once the Seahawks get eliminated from playoff contention by halloween?

Getzlaf being butthurt
This is the tough part about rooting for national teams. 90% of the year you hate Ryan Getzlaf. During the olympics you have to hope he can draw more penalties than he takes.
In my case, i find issues rooting for Jack Johnson, and Paul Stastny
I found it kinda odd that we are getting out-hit by the Swiss. Perhaps the refs got shit for calling 5 straight penalties against the Swiss team…..

I’ve hated the International Shootout rules for a long time.
The shootout already turns a team game into a stupid skills competition and removes that whole team aspect from it. But the international rules just take it further. It can (and has) turned a game into a 4 man competition – the goalie from each team, and one shooter from each.
I hate to see well fought even games decided by individuals as opposed to the team.
Now drink with me deeply of the bourbon, scotch, and rye until such time as we are fighting drunk.
