Open Olympic Thread - Day 3

PrintThe idea has been tossed around lately (mainly by me, and I have good reason for it already) that we should have open threads on which we can talk about the Olympics. Now, obviously we still have a Canucks game happening this afternoon, so some talk is bound to happen there. However, I would still like to kick off the ball on these open threads. So, without further ado, here's today's open thread.
I felt it would be a good idea to list the events that are happening today, as well as their start times, so that we can keep track of what is going on. (All times are PST) Check out ctvolympics.ca for tons of coverage, such as live streams and live results. (The results are updated extremely quickly. During the ladie's moguls last night, the scores were coming up and being sorted by rank live online before they were shown on tv)

Thanks Missy! I just woke up. Big day today. Wonder how we’ll fare with 4 dudes in the freestyle skiing.
Wonder how badly the American women’s hockey team is going to pound on the Chinese?
You would have to think though, that the Chinese team will eventually develop into a formidable team. No one thought twice about their women’s Curling team a couple of years ago, look how that turned out.
When you have a population of 1 billion+ people, and a country-funded sports program like they do, it is pretty inevitable that their athletes will continue to improve.
These athletes are literally chosen out of thousands of applicants, and spend their life totally dedicated to their sports.
What they do lack, however, is the size and experience of more mature hockey countries. Size is something that they really can’t improve on, so the level of improvement from that team remains to be seen.

Peter Nylander’s quote on them is pretty sweet. He was asked how he felt about them getting more hockey players and developing, and he basically said “God, no. They’ve so many bodies, they’d be dominant.”

Thanks for listing the events and their start times. I find it a bit hard to look at the schedule on the CTV website as you can only move your mouse cursor over one event at a time.
I’ll be watching the ladies 3000m skating and men’s moguls today, in addition to the Canucks game and some studying (boo).
