Roses are red, Canucks wear blue: Poems inspired by 'Poet Luongo'

Hopefully you have had a chance to see Roberto Luongo flex his poetic muscle by now. If not, make it priority viewing ASAP. Inspired by Poet Luongo, I composed some poetry of my own this afternoon (and yes, one of them shares similar subject matter as one of Luongo's masterpieces). Hope you enjoy, and feel free to add your own in the comments or a FanPost!

In Memory of the Goalie Graveyard

Oh, how we love you Bobby Lu,

Love your poetry, and goaltending too.

You look like Borat - "VERRRRY NICE!"

And you can probably stop a Lidstrom shot from centre ice.

Twin Confusion

There's a Canucks player named Hank,

But he looks just like that guy called Dank.

So whom is whom? I'm so confused.

But on the ice they've got sick moves.

One is 22, the other 33,

Add those together and then you'll see:

22+33 = 55. No lyin',

Those "Sedins" are really Shane O'Brien.

40 Years: 40 Jerseys

From a subtle ‘V' as a stick in a rink,

To a garish flying ‘V', boy did that stink.

A puke yellow shirt with a cool looking skate,

Was much better in white, that looked pretty great.

A bright red third that looked like a salmon,

Made me shake my head and ask "What the hell, man?"

Then Orca Bay gave us a flying whale,

And that crest's stuck around long after the sale.

We've seen the Orca on black, on white, and on red,

And now it's on blue with ‘VANCOUVER' overhead.

The best is yet to come, with any luck

We'll soon all be cheering on Johnny Canuck!
