Wow, Lou. The Canucks played a lot more defensively against the Hawks tonight and when they faltered Roberto Luongo was there to bail them out. Great game by our team! How many times did Chelsea's Dagger play? None. Nadda. Zip. Zero. Great road game by the Canucks. I think we have been wanting Lou to steal a game and he did just that. Canucks were outshot 32-18. The crazy part about Luongo was that he seemed to abandon the engraved butterfly style for the way he played for us in 2007 or for the Panthers in the years before that. Well, at least in key moments anyway. Hey, whatever works. Lou was money tonight.
FTR Dan Hamhuis had 1 assist and had more ice time than any Canuck.
Daniel Sedin with 2 assists. I thought line 1 was mostly quiet.
Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook combined for a -4 rating. YAY!!!

I saw the highlights about 3 or 4 times on SC repeats this morning at the gym and it each time it was gold

If they truly want to exorcise the demons they have to beat them at home. For whatever reason the Hawks have our number in our own building but we tend to beat them in their building.
I am starting to wonder
If the difference in ice quality might have something to do with it. It seems like our ice is in better shape, which would benefit the Hawks, as they tend to be very fast.

Loo The Poet was abolutely Tim Thomasian last night. We need way more of that.
Maybe the Ballard bashing finally ends (7 blocked shots for him according to the broadcaster!!!). Why only 18 shots? For much of the game the ’Hawks controlled the play but they and their fans came away completely frustrated. Thanks, Bobby Lou.

the Hawks were shaking their heads last night. Some of those saves I can’t believe didn’t go in. The man was making saves with his toes!

What an amazing game last night. I am still grinning over it. The last three games – wins over SJ, CGY, and CHI – have been hugely satisfying.

Much as I loved the win
and the game, I don’t think we outplayed chicago at all; conversely I think they massively outplayed us. We out luongo’d them, which is good…but come on…they doubled us in shots…they dominated puck control even though we were winning the faceoffs. I’m just thinking we still need to figure these guys out or I don’t think we could win a series against them. What I did like was that everyone showed up at 100% effort, even if execution was a bit lower.

i don't think they massively outplayed us
i think they moderately outplayed us
but we also have a goalie we pay $10 mill who is supposed to do what he did
and they have spare part goalies who are suppose to do what they’ve been doing

well, no matter the extent of it, they still outplayed us.
only reasons we were in that game was because of Luie and all the blocked shots.

my point more eloquently stated… I don’t see how we could win a 7 game series like that is all I’m saying. Was an entertaining game though…one of the most enjoyable games to watch this year from a purely back and forth perspective.

It's not against the rules
to have a better goalie than the other team. And Luongo is part of the Canucks so his play does count towards how well the team played. And while their skaters may have out performed our skaters out goalie and our special teams out performed their goalie and their special teams. Making the game pretty much even as far as I can see.

I think you are echoing the sentiment on SCH
I do not think anybody at all is really upset at the effort by the Hawks last night, bad bounces here and there, HUGE MISSED open 4×6s hurt. Overall it sucked to loose, but most feel that an effort like the Hawks put up last night will lead to many more wins than it does loses.
LU did a hell of job when he had, and the Hawks missed the open nets when they could not afford to miss them.
It was a fun game to watch in any respect. Fast, very good level of play, and awesome plays throughout.

Consider in the summer I didn’t go on vacation. Stayed here, took summer courses at SFU that included Geology (puke) and Statistics (double puke), 5 days a week. Worked minimally. That is a lot of time spent on my laptop not paying attention to lecture.
