Tough night for Lu
Kind of a tough night. Playing against some of the most talented players in the world, though. That first Zetterberg goal, though, eeeeeeeeh.
I liked the way the Canucks looked out there. It was a loss, but I’m happy with their performance (and with Lu).

I don’t have speakers, so I can’t actually listen, but the guy did make 40 saves last night. Yeah, he let in a couple weak goals, but he also made some great saves. If Ehrhoff gets the puck out of the zone in overtime, there’s no problem. Instead, a couple bad bounces later, Zetterberg’s able to get a slapshot from below the hashmarks. As much as it looks like a soft goal, it’s really not. It would have been nice for Luongo to stop it, yes, but it’s not as soft as it looks.

Tough night for him, with a little luck we could have won this one, but these things happen to a goalie sometimes.
I don’t want to blame him because he did a great job in December (his GAA was below 2 goals a couple of days ago), and you can’t realistically expect a player to have a perfect night every game.

…let’s blame Alex Burrows then, for taking that stupid crosschecking penalty at the end.
I like Alex, but that was a reckless play.

basically, lots of players made mistakes that contributed to the loss… it’s just easier to make the direct connection when it comes to the goalie
that being said, lu made two errors resulting in goals… that is not acceptable

That is the way it is in that position Bean’. Been saying that forever. The other guys mistakes just don’t show up on the scoresheet.
I did not see him making excuses there…just disappointed. That 3rd goal, he went down like every goalie does…maybe they can look at the tape and see he should have his legs tighter or something, but that really looked like just one of those things.
Kes got checked, Ehrhoff had a bad game and still had a chance to win the game, with an open net in O/T…and Burr’s penalty pissed me off too, but I honestly thought that was a weak call, in the context of what they let go the entire game.
Tong wars were going on in front of both nets all night, and yet, a somewhat weak cross check on a guy with a huge rep for “drawing” those type of penalties results in him going down, when previous that would have not put him down at all.
Oh, and add Glass to the list of folks that can share the blame. He totally missed Lidstrom coming in from the point ( his guy ) on the rebound. ( a great save through a screen by Lui there )
On to the next, and take it out on the BJs…

Kes not clearing the zone when he needed to.

Not a fan of his inability to admit he got beat by a bad goal
but the guy made heaps of saves.

He does. On the shitty third one, it was obvious in his face, and every move…he looked honestly mystified as to how it got in…
Besides 87, thats what makes ALL the good ones great…you can’t go around saying…" I played badon this one or that one…" and have the ego needed to be a #1 in the NHL.
I don’t know if I need a mea culpa on every bad goal. As long as he knows it was bad, and looks to improve is good enough for me.
