The Canucks continued their strong play with another workman-like effort in St. Louis last night against the Blues, taking it 3-1. Despite going oh-fer on their first 4 PP attempts (including a 5 on 3), they got the job done, against a battered St. Louis squad. They've got a lot of offense out of their lineup right now, but until NHL wins are graded on a curve it's still 2 points. Nice to see another win against a team that they should have beaten, something that's been an issue in the past with this team. How good are the Canucks playing right now? The easiest barometer is the comments section of places like TSN. Since they can't knock Luongo's play of late, the haters are right back to saying it doesn't matter because they'll fail in the playoffs. Funny that most of that noise comes from fans of teams outside looking in, but whatever... More after the jump...
The Biggest Game of The Year (Part I)
Can you have a huge game in December? Well when you can potentially tie for 1st in the Conference against a hated rival, then it doesn't get much bigger this time of year. Sure they need a little help from the scoreboard tonight, but I really like how focused this team is right now. Coach Alain Vigneault has them taking a very one game at a time approach, whereas in the past they have been guilty of looking ahead.
A big ol' bowl of oatmeal with cinnamon and brown sugar
Congrats to Aaron Volpatti, for notching his 1st goal in the bigs last night. Nice that he doesn't have to embellish when telling his grandkids about this one, it was a hell of a goal... Lots of fireworks from the pasting Pittsburgh laid on the Coyotes last night. From Taylor Pyatt getting knocked the fuck out to the Coyotes complaining of a (brace yourselves) Matt Cooke cheapshot, this one was almost ugly... Another day, another Flames loss. Just how bad are they on the road? Only New Jersey and the New York Islanders have worse road records... Since we're linking Puck Daddy this morning, it felt good to see him give a nod to my old hometown, as the Kamloops Blazers become an internet sensation...and finally...
WAACH 'Cast's Band Of The Day: CROSS EXAMINATION
Straight out of St. Louis Missouri comes a kickass crossover band that may not be everyone's cup of tea due to a very unorthodox vocal style, but if you're like me and don't mind a lil punk in your metal, these guys will rip you a new one. I ordered a shirt from them and they sent along a comic book about the band's beer swilling, dope smokin' adventures. Check out this one from their most recent album 'Menace II Sobriety'
