Rypper is back this game anyway so I guess the timing of the Debiens injury works out.
Speaking of Rypien, weren’t some people commenting that he’d never see another game in the NHL? Those claims seemed ridiculous at the time, but even more so now.
VAN critics definitely said it; you can see where they were coming from. A fourth line fighter grabbing someone in the stands seems like a sure-fire way to get stuffed in the minors for a prolonged period of time. I don’t think the fan helped his own cause in the days following it.

Basically this. There were equal or better players fighting for his position, and given the fact that we don’t seem to care about fighting as a team this year, I easily could have seen Ryp find a ticket out of here. The injuries have really helped his cause.
