Dear Canuck Players, (except Daniel Sedin)
This is a hockey net.
There are two of them on the ice, one for you to protect and keep the puck out of and one for you to put the puck into. Please ask AV which one is which, but here is a hint….the one with Luongo or Schneider is the one to protect.
There seems to be some reason that most of you are having trouble putting the puck into this designated area. Is it the guy in between the pipes that scares you? I hope you realize that their scary face is just a mask. They can’t actually bite through the mask. Hank, Kes, Mayray…hell, everyone but Daniel, listen up. We, the loyal fans, are a little pissed about the fact you can’t score. (We can address defense another day.) I believe, as do many others, that if you would put the black thingy into the net thingy, the other teams will become depressed and give up. (Kinda like what you did last night)
Now some of you may be confused. Hitting the red parts of the net is only a good thing if the puck goes into the net. In practice it may be fun to bet who can hit the crossbar first (I bet Kesler wins), but in a game it does no good. The same goes for posts. Some of you seem hesitant to shoot the puck. What is the problem? Is the puck actually asking you to hold on to it (Hank – 12 shots in 6 games, tied with Rypien with 0 goals).
Some of you seem to think that shooting the puck 5 feet left or right of the net is ok because the forwards will magically deflect all shots into that confusing net. (Defensive core 49 shots total – 3 goals……one by Alberts. That seems wrong).
I admit to not being a brilliant hockey mind, but when I played my coach said something that made sense. "Shoot at the net. It is very hard to score when you don’t shoot at it." How about you try that from now on. Thanks.
