US v. Canada Junior Finals -- A dilemma
Alright, I've been wanting to write this for a while and I finally have the edge I need to make this make sense. So here we go.
I live about 30 miles south of White Rock in a growing community named Bellingham. I am a huge US patriot, and have actually lost a former classmate of mine in the Iraq War. I vote and try to be a great American. However, this US/Canada match-up tonight has got me thinking about what were to happen if -- god forbid! -- the US and Canada were to meet again in the Gold Medal Game in the Olympics.
About a month after that game I intend to visit GM Place to watch the Canucks battle either the Lames or the Senators. As it will be the first home game after a two-and-a-half year long road trip (probably not true) there will be a full raft of patriotism and city-ism towards the Canucks. I will be coming from the states to watch this game. I received a hockey shirt for Christmas that says, plainly, USA Hockey. If I get "Kesler 7" on the back will I be able to dodge grief, or should I spring for a Canucks sweater and avoid any certain awkwardness? I'd like any beer spilled on me to be my own.
Thanks -- GoodKeith

depends which way you face...
You’ll be free of harassment from the back with Kesler’s name on it, but you might catch some s#*t from anyone looking at you straight on.
U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A!
Rock the USA hockey!
Now drink with me deeply of the bourbon, scotch, and rye until such time as we are fighting drunk.

about Kesler 7
He will be wearing #17 for team USA, the 7 was a mistake by USA hockey (as was misspelling Jamie Langenbrunner’s name… nice)

Wear the red, white and blue with dignity and honor, my man.
If you’re a proud American, wear the stars and stripes and don’t take shit from anyone about it.
If I could wear my team USA sweater during the US Vs. Canada World Jr’s in Vancouver at Pacific Coliseum and live another day (I was one of maybe 5 people that represented in that packed place) you can probably get away with it. :)
I got lot’s of good natured teasing, and only one hostile response from a drunk that called me an idiot.
That was actually a crazy experience. That’s the game wear Jack Johnson cheap shotted Steve Downey. Looking back now, not such a bad thing.
