Schneider To Collect Bonuses / Rome To Stay 6th Defenceman
I gotta go read the rulebook. I wasn't aware Mathieu Schneider could still collect bonuses for games played while in the minors. Updated: Ah, too early in the morning for me. Schneider received a $1 million signing bonus and gets paid in four $250,000 increments. My bad. Thanks Max Currie!
Aaron Rome, according to AV will remain the 6th defenceman for now. Coach likes his play.

The $250K is part of his signing bonus, not games played. What a waste of time he turned out to be. Man did he look slow out there.
That’s me in the mornings..thanks, Max. I updated the post.

Other than his bumping another Moose player, does it matter? He doesn’t count against the cap anymore, so it’s just Aquilini’s money and, from Aquilini’s pt of view, we’re paying out exactly as much cash as we did before for Luko and Schneider. Correct?
The opposite of serious is not funny; the opposite of serious is unserious.
Rome still the 6th D? How long before Lukowich starts beaking about his playing time?
Please allow me to adjust my pants, so that I may dance the good time dance, and lead the onlookers and innocent bystanders into a trance.
I don’t know. Something must really be wrong with Luko for all this shit to happen. Ah well, like somebody said earlier…it’s a matter of time before Salo breaks a part

I’m not so sure this is a refection on Luko. If you want a young player like Rome to believe he’ll be rewarded for good play, it doesn’t make sense to tell him he’ll sit simply because there is a new vet with the team. Rome has been a pretty good soldier all year, even playing some up front when asked.
You’re right about Salo. Each and every activity of daily living puts him closer to the hospital.
How come so many big guys are so brittle? I used to work with a guy, good size, great athlete, but was forever getting hurt.

If Lukowich had no problem playing in the Moose, it’s very likely that he’s just glad to be back in the NHL and be part of the team he has also wanted to join, even if it means not dressing for many games. Rome has not played poorly and the team has been winning, but I suspect that as soon as Rome or the team has a bad game, Lukowich will play.
That was part of my point, Steve. Lukowich was living at home in Texas, seeing his family every day. Would he want to be pulled away from that situation, thousands of kilometres away, only to be a healthy scratch?

But he stated in the preseason that he has always wanted to play for the Canucks and every time he became a free agent, he asked his agent to contact the Canucks. And Lukowich played in San Jose last year right? So if his family was fine with him being away in San Jose (which is not that close to Texas), then they should be fine with him being back in his home province. I’m sure we’ll read a bit more about him once the writers have talked to him.
