"I apologize but I really don't want to say what the factors are that we're considering," Gillis said as he watched the Canucks practise. "We're going to meet with them and we're going to see what their reaction is and go from there."

personally I think they need to tell CBC their thoughts Friday then let it go. Hockey Day In Canada is important to a lot of the players and the fans, and we don’t stand to benefit from prolonging this… the whole thing has been good for the team and its fans in giving everyone a common enemy to rally around…
but god we just need to get back to hockey

The hockey is on ice is fine canucklehead666 in fact we are doing great. This Ron MacLean segment needs to be challenged further. I am totally behind what the Canucks organization is doing. HNIC needs to be sent a strong message- good on ya Canucks executive and ownership. Carry on bravely to the Stanley Cup final if need be. Ron’s actions and his “who do you think you are” attitude need to be put in their place.
Perhaps the most awesome moment of the year for me would be the Canucks winning the Stanley Cup and only giving interviews to Versus, the TEAM and NHL Radio.
I live in the states so it would be pointless for me to participate, but I was half expecting a grassroots internet campaign to spring up, encouraging people to withhold that portion of their federal income taxes that pays Ron McLean’s salary. Fight the power!
By the way, as an aside, can I just say that Center Ice is the single best almost $200 bucks I spend each year. I live close enough to he border that without it my only Saturday night hockey would be on the CBC. I have not had to suffer though a single Coaches Corner or Leafs game since I bought the package.

Yeah, Center Ice saved me as well. When I moved from Vancouver to Los Angeles, I was literally sick because not being able to watch the Canucks. After getting the package, my stay became somewhat more bearable.
Los Angeles, CA
That’s a hilarious image. When they cut from replays and analysis, they go to Scott Oake in the dressing room, surrounded by the boys, getting drenched… in tears, as it turns out, rather than champagne. Because the Ceeb just can’t get into the Nucks room, and Scotty’s stuck with the losers (who will ideally be the Leafs).
Not gonna happen, though. (That boycott, I mean… the Cup win sure as heck might! But not against the Leafs, of course.)
"He'll play, you know he'll play. He'll play on crutches if he has to... and he'll play at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night! This game is over!"
F*** Ron Maclean
Look guys, as we have seen recently, the team has rallied around Burrows. Thanks to Av’s passionate defence of his player, the team has also rallied behind him. In my life, when one of my bosses has stuck up for me regarding an issue at work, I give them 110 percent effort on anything they want me to do. It is a basic rule of human existence, when a person above you on the scale backs you up, it feels great. I think it was a perfect opportunity for AV to regain control of the team, and pick a rally point for everyone to get on board. It is hard to find one player that hasn’t played better since this incident happened… (Big Bern and Welly aside…)
My long winded point is that I think we should ride this wave to the cup. In years past during controversy the team has collapsed or suffered for it, but not this year. This year we have extremely intelligent management, that has sent a message from the top down, that this club will not be marginalized by ANYONE. Impassioned fanbase, impassioned players, impassioned coaches, impassioned GM… us vs. everyone..
(this is sparta….) lol, just had to put that in there somewhere..
