The Race for Player of the Month
As of right now, I gotta think these two are by far the top two contenders:
Burrows has points in all 10 Canucks games this January, scoring 17 points in that span, including 13 goals and 2 hat tricks. He's also +12 over those 10 games. The Canucks have so far gone 7-2-1 during the month.
Ovechkin has points in 9 out of 11 games for the caps this January, scoring 20 points in that span, including 7 goals but 0 hat tricks. He's also +11 over those 11 games. The Caps have so far gone 9-2-0 over the month.
Hank would be in the running too, since I believe his 21 points in the month are better than anyone. But he hasn't scored points in every game like Burr, doesn't have as many goals as Burr, and his +/- is lower at +10. Plus he was already Player of the Month in December, so I place him at third in the race.
Brodeur has 3 shutouts this month and set the new record for all-time shutouts in the process. However, with a very pedestrian 6-5 record so far in January, I don't think he deserves the monthly honour despite these impressive achievements.
Just one week left! Who do you think will get it? Gotta say, my money is on Ovie, because it seems much more likely for him to maintain his pace than for Burr, based on past achievement.

well, ovechkin did hit a little road bump early in the month. after getting his captaincy, he didn’t score until the 3rd game with a C.
i say henrik is definitely up there again, and burrows has been in the spotlight all month.

Ovy didn’t have to overcome getting sodomized by the refs, the league and then the media during his streak.
Alex Burrows, with 11 goals in his past seven games, was asked if he knew who else has managed that.
He was stumped, but when told it was the Calgary Flames, he roared with laughter.
Let me clarify, if the decision was to be made today, my vote would be for Burr. However, since there are still a few games left in January for each player, based on career stats, the likelihood is that Ovi will put up more numbers than Burr. So that’s why I’m thinking it will end up as Ovie.

No way in hell they will go for Burrpws….unless he continues to totally light up the scoresheet.
He forced them to name him player of the week by his play.
But I think they find someone else…after the whole “Auger” thing.
"Insult is the price of clarity"
His repeated use of this sentence suggests he thinks it’s more pithy, profound and powerful than it actually is. I’m not sure exactly what it means: "I’m being insulted because I was clear"? "I appeared to be insulting Burrows but actually I was just being clear"?
Greek to me. He may as well have said "Turnips are the price of sincerity." Or "Vaseline is the price of getting *****ed."
