In the sports lexicon this is called "stepping up." In truth Henrik, who led the NHL in scoring with 62 points through Sunday, stepped out—out of the psychological ties binding the 29-year-olds, out of the Swedish hockey stereotype, and out from behind the net and the corners where the nine-year veteran always seemed a little too happy to be creating scoring chances for others. Sedin has stepped so far out, he is SPORTS ILLUSTRATED's midseason player of 2009--10, edging the Sabres' superb goaltender Ryan Miller and the Rangers' one-man attack, right wing Marian Gaborik.
Sports Illustrated with a nice take on Henrik's rise to Hart consideration.

nice piece
the Hank for Hart movement continues to roll… but we need to step it up a notch and get it into the Vote 4 Rory campaign territory

I wouldn’t make any rally cries until March. So much time left, and Ovechkin is just about to go on a tear for the rest of the season, IMO. It won’t be easy.

I just think with some in the media waking up to it… it’s a perfect time to capitalize on the momentum that is building

When it has to do with the Canucks, I’m naturally afraid of anything that has to do with the media waking up to us. Whenever we’re expected to do good things we disappoint, whenever we’re written off as a mediocre team we surprise. As much as I like seeing Hank get kudos, I’d rather have him as an unsung hero that the media ignores.
Bring me Stanley. Alive if possible, dead... just as good.

I was about to say the same thing this way. Now that the American media icon “Sports Illustrated” has sprinkled a little holy water on Hank maybe it will be ok for the the media in the rest of Canada to take a some notice as well. I know I am twisted and bitter but hey I like me like this :)
I agree historically. But at some point winning teams have to establish themselves. And if the Canucks, with a core of Luongo and the Sedins, are going to be a championship team in the next few years (and I think they have that potential – not saying it will happen for sure) they need to (finally) overcome their inability to win when they are a good team and carry those expectations.
I want a team that craves greatness and isn’t afraid of it – and I think if you look at the best teams in the league over the past few decades those are the types of teams that win it.
