Lukowich recalled by Canucks
Brad Lukowich has been recalled by the Vancouver Canucks from the Texas Stars, as per the Dallas News. However Lukowich must clear re-entry waivers first. Would any team try to claim him? In what position does this put our cap, and Pavol Demitra's return to the team? Will anyone be forced to leave as a result of this move?

If he's
claimed off waivers the only effect is negative, as the Cap room takes a hit to the tune of half of his cap number.
Dicey move. I guess maybe team figures it’s a calculated risk but I don’t see how you can calculate such things.
Also, I think half his total annual salary still counts as a cap hit to the acquiring team even if they only pay him pro-rata now. Is that correct?
Anyway, if you’re gonna try this … try it on New Year’s day when the other GMs are out of the office? Seriously, they’ve given the other teams 24 hours to get their mgmt teams together to discuss/decide, and they drop it in their laps on New Year’s day? Well, maybe it’ll work; we’ll see.
The opposite of serious is not funny; the opposite of serious is unserious.
so the canucks are not happy with rome? or they’re just trying to save money on plane fare since they’re in texas right now anyway? this is a gamble and if lukowich is able to get through re-entry waivers how much is he going to be able to help the club anyway?
i don’t like it, no sir, not one bit.
Well, somebody has to ride the pine. Gotta have 7 D-men around. Good point about the whole Texas scenario though.

'Nucks Misconduct - Housing Swedish Millionaires Since 2000.
Does this say anything about how long Bieksa is expected to be out? I suppose it’s not such a huge cap hit if Bieksa is going to be out for awhile?
I don’t think they’ll know about Juice until sometime this week. Sure doesn’t sound like he’ll be back anytime soon.

They are projecting 2-3 months. That’s $3.5 million in “savings”

He
or someone else can always be sent back down once Bieksa is back.
The worst part of Bieksa’s injury is that he was the one expensive Nuck dman without a NTC so if he’s not healthy before the deadline, that tradable asset isn’t either.
