Canucks Links After Beating Sharks

-Did you miss the game? Here are the highlights of the game, including the beauty shootout goals by Mason Raymond and Alexander Edler.

-Alain Vigneault's post game press conference (video) He talks about Cody Hodgson's back being 100%, he will play tomorrow night and needs to adapt to the NHL level. He was loving the play of the Bernier-Glass-Bliznak line. He thought Evan Oberg wasn't as effective tonight and that Jannik Hansen was. Yes, Hansen was a beast out there.

-Canucks -Sharks BOXSCORE. Wow, Hodgson played the least amount of icetime out of any Canuck tonight.

-"The night started with the spotlight on Cody Hodgson, but ended with a coming out party for journeyman forward Tanner Glass." - The Province

-Off Topic: Trevor Linden is frustrated by the firing of NHLPA Executive Paul Kelly..

Hodgson

Is it just me, or are the odds now tilted in his favour of going back to Brampton?

I’d have to think there’s a 75-25 chance he DOESN’T make the team now.

My thoughts on the forwards on opening night:

Sedin, Sedin, Burrows
Shirokov, Kesler, Sammuelsson
Raymond, Wellwood, Bernier
Hansen, Johnson, Hordichuk

No clue on the d-men…I still think a trade is coming.

What about rypien? And I wholeheartedly agree about the d-man trade point, as I’ve mentioned before.

Yeah I’d say sit Hordichuk in favor of Rypien most nights.

Rypien

Sorry, momentarily forgot about him (I knew there was someone).

Rypien or Hordichuk is the 13th forward, depending on the situation (or Hansen).

by Jevant on Sep 24, 2009 9:53 AM PDT up reply actions

Hordi stays. Ryp, IMHO, is just too small and fragile to be taking on the likes of Boogard and Macintyre.

I've seen enough to know that I've seen too much.

Right, put Blackout in when you have some heavy weights to deal with. But Rypien, for the most part, can offer the same thing and he actually has some skill in case he feels like playing hockey.

Quick hands ryp can hold his own with the big guys, and wallop them if they’re not expecting it. The kid has no fear. And he’s faster and has a titch of puck skill.

First time in his life Gretzky was late on the play, but it’s for the best.

First game of the season against two improved NW Div favorites is hard to argue with. For the second I definitely can’t wait until the first meeting against The Shitbirds…read Hawks.
