This has to be the best Rick Rypien fight compilation on the web. Great job by VanIsleNucksFan. This was his first video made and hopefully not his last.
Ripper is a beast, no doubt about it. This could be a fantastic year for him.

I think one of the things that makes Rypien such a good fighter is his ability to absorb clean shots to his own face in order to a flurry of his own punches which almost always seem to do more damage than what he takes.
Lethal hands for sure!

Who does that remind me of? Probert? Janssens? A few shots to the dome and then Rypien just loses it. It gets him going!

Honestly his ability to switch hands is just sick.

Canucks Greatest Fighters List:
Who would be in the top 5? Who’s at the top?
Mine off the top of my head looks like this:
1.Gino (when he was drinking)
2.Brashear (once saw him kill Doug Zmolek)
3.Tiger
4.Sober Gino
5.Rypien
Thoughts?
Yeah Gino lost a lot whereas Brashear rarely had anyone get the better of him. Rypien hasn’t be around long enough to really rank in there but I definitely get excited when Ryp gets all worked up.
There’s some lesser names out there too who were pretty damn tough and scored some hilarious KO’s in their own right, including SOB, Jovo, Bertuzzi, even randoms like Cullimore and Brookbank. Mike Brown too, it’s a shame Anaheim snagged him.

I think sober Gino was better than Tiger though.

I’ve heard a lot more about Tiger than seen but I’ll take your word.

Well...
I dunno. For a big guy, Gino never really had great power: he didn’t have a big KO in his game, just a “beat ‘em ’till they’re tired” tactic. Brashear had the intimidation factor of a huge finish in his game.
Heck, I’d put Garth Butcher on here for his name and eyes alone!
Bingo! The ‘82 series with Calgary, Fraser was a warrior. Toe to toe with Willi Plett numerous times. He’d be number 1 on my list.
I've seen enough to know that I've seen too much.
Here are some Fraser vids:
Fraser fights Chris Nilan off the ice!
Fraser sends Dave Farrish to dreamland with one puch
Fraser 1 Jay Wells 0
Tiger Williams declares himself the best fighter in the NHL after playing his first game as a Canuck
Yay! Brawl in Chicago in the 1982 playoffs! Old time hockey was the shit. Ron Delorme vs Grant Mulvey. The Hawks were bitter because we were kicking their ass.
There’s a great interview with Craig Coxe over at Hockeyfights.com, if anyone’s interested. There’s also video of that awesome Coxe-Probert fight. It still gives me goosebumps.

True! That was one of the best fights of all time. Even Don Chery thinks so

I don't remember the year...
…but I was listening to a Boston-Canucks game, ridiculous thing going back and forth, must have driven both coaches insane. Rowdy as hell, lots of scoring, lots of fights; and Craig Coxe got the game winner with a minute left to play to make the final score 6-7. All people could ask about was why on earth would the coach (McCammon?) had Craig Coxe on the ice in the last minute of play!
Odd flashback.
