Burrows May Face Charges For High Stick Infraction In Quebec
So perhaps it is true. A Canucks fan reported on CDC that Alex Burrows had intentionally high sticked a player named Koray Celik to the face guard in a hockey tournament in Quebec over a month ago. Not much was said about it until RDS put out an article today.
The 19 year-old's father is still considering pressing charges against Burrows. Burrows' rep Paul Corbeil has refused to comment but did say that no charges have been made against him at this time.

Well..
I’m just surprised Burrows didn’t grab a fist-full of hair to go along with the high stick

From Oleg Petrov at the HF Boards, who claimed he was there:
Have to chime in here. Seeing as how I am very familar with what happened that night.
What happened was an on-ice incident. As you can imagine, Burrows takes a boatload of crap from the other players in the league. The goalie in question was chopping him every time the ref would turn his back on the play, finally with the result of the game no longer in doubt the goalie took one last whack. A delayed penalty was going to be called, but instead Burrows took matters into his own hands and cross-checked the goalie in the face. He hit him so hard he broke 75 – 80% of the goalie’s two front teeth (through his mask).
What happened after was somewhat embarassing, the goalie is walking around the rink with his cell….he calls his mother, father, the cops and his lawyer…..What kind of a kid has his lawyer’s cell number on him??
At any rate, I think they are looking for some kind of a settlement. It’s total BS in my opinion, but Burrows being a pro in all should probably not have been there in the 1st place and definitley should have acted as if he has more to lose, because he DOES.

If that’s true, it was a hell of a high stick

It would almost have to be that bad in order for this to even be an issue. It it was a love tap I’d kick myself in the ass for posting this :)

Hey for the record you had this posted first. Great job.
As for Burrows it would be just splendid if this was put to bed quickly.

Yeah, a quick settlement is in order.
Yeah I beat most of the mainstream media on this, but that guy who posted it at CDC a while ago gets mad props. I can’t even find it in the forum. We didn’t believe him back then because there was no link to a media story on it. I’m surprised it took this long to get out.

Summer hockey brings out the beast in everyone. I watched Surrey RCMP and Burnaby Fire go at it at the World Police and Fire Games yesterday. Holy benchclearers, Batman!

Yeah, but...
…that’s a “fire vs. cops” thing, too. You should see some of the contests at First Responder competitions!

Which begs the question…who would be the First Responder to a First Responder situation?

I’d probably laugh at that….if I didn’t have to Google it first. Thanks.
