Anton Babchuk, anyone?

It looks as though the Hurricanes are not going to re-sign the 6'5" 212 pound defenceman.

He wants more than the $1 million he was making last season, and had a career year with 16 goals and 19 assists in 72 games. He averaged about 18:00 of ice time per game.

Worth a look? I don't know enough about this guy. If you do, please share in the comments section. Watch the clip below. He's got a great shot from the point.

Now that Pittsburgh has scooped up Jay McKee for a song, I’m thinking, why not? Other than the fact that he’s a disaster in his own end, and is just a hissy fit away from bolting to the KHL ( thanks, Cane Country), what’s not to love?

I've seen enough to know that I've seen too much.

A reported $800,000 contract for McKee…….huh. Amazing how all these assholes with inflated salaries are taking huge paycuts. Either that or KHL time!

Based on his wikipedia description, sounds like a bit of headache in that he refused to be re-assigned to the AHL a couple years back and then left for the KHL. But had pretty impressive stats last year for his first full NHL campaign, and he has a Stanley Cup ring with Carolina (though he did not dress for a single game in the playoffs). And I do like his size. But I’m not sure he’s a “Mike Gillis type” player, and I really have never watched him play.

Thanks for that. You gotta love the video clip of him though heh?

yea, especially that breakaway goal in which he got in front of the goalie like a power forward… would it be nice to have a guy like him stand in front of opposing goalie and Samuelsson playing the point for our powerplay?

We are all Canucks.

Okay. Fine now. But may I please ask that you refrain from encouraging Gillis to use (shudder) forwards on the point? Especially one so wildly inaccurate as Samuelsson?

Thank you.
