He'll be up against Brodeur, Fleury, Mason and Ward to see who's the number one for Canada.

Safe money is on Brodeur and Luongo, but yeah I’d be pretty content with these guys sitting behind, you know, half of the current Calgary defense.

Of course Brodeur and Lu if nothing changes, but...you know they will have to face Kesler. :)

Kesler doesn’t stand a chance but we’ll blame his linemates for any problems

Is Marc Staal, aka the least impressive Staal brother so far (who gets mixed reviews on the NY Rangers of all teams), and who is only 22 years old, a more worthy candidate for invite to the selection camp than Willie Mitchell? Neither will likely make the team, but Willie is at least from BC, plays in Vancouver, has a very good reputation, and had one of the best +/- in the league last year.
2008-2009:
Marc Staal: 82 GP, 3 goals, 12 assists, -7 and he’s 6’4" – 204lb
Willie Mitchell: 82 GP, 3 goals, 26 assists, +29 and he’s 6’3" – 210lb
My guess is Marc got invited because his brothers did and they didn’t want to hurt his feelings.
I have to disagree, I think Marc has a bright future ahead of him myself, and would fill the hole left by Bourdon’s death if the Canucks could exploit Sather’s cap ineptitude.
Willie had a career year without question, but Marc will likely hit higher numbers.
I don’t think he makes the cut for Team Canada, and the same goes for Willie.
All I’m saying is that based on current capabilities and character strength, Willie Mitchell is more deserving of an invite to the 2010 team camp than Marc Staal. Staal has great potential to earn an invite in the future but he doesn’t nearly deserve to be there yet.

Broduer:
I think old Marty’s slipping, give it to Bobby(if he comes out the 09-10 gates swinging)
and the Flower(not the best goalie, but has a Grant Fuhr under pressure quality to him). Mason on standby?
Still, he’s the third best Canadian set-up man (after Crosby and Thornton)… and Thornton is a big loser. I think he should have got the invite.
