Vancouver To Open Season Against Calgary On Oct 1?
According to Tim Wharnsby of the Globe and Mail, the 2009/2010 season will kick off on Oct. 1 with the Habs against the Leafs in Toronto and Calgary taking on the Canucks in Vancouver. The full schedule is released tomorrow.
If the report is true it'll be the second straight year the Canucks open the season opposite their red friends. And since we all miss hockey, spend a few minutes enjoying last year's season opener as the Sedins, Burrows and Rypien destroyed the Flames in the first of a home and home.

sweet!!!
i remember last year, when this was the first two games we watched in my residence. my res advisor came in while the nucks were winning and said:
“you wanna hear a joke? the flames!”
GO CANUCKS GO!
This was the first Canucks game I ever watched on TV.
I had moved to Seattle area a few years earlier, but had just switched TV packages to be able to get CBC. I had listened to games on 1040 online before, but had never seen one. That was a fun game. :)
Beating the flames? Yawn…it’s expected

Not sure why you’d say that. They outplayed us badly in that game’s first period. Luongo saved it. And we were trailing in the game two days later for much of the game.

Why would you say that? I’ve yet to see a style points column in the standings.
I've seen enough to know that I've seen too much.
Puck luck only gets you so far. And if you expect the likes of Demitra swooping in to save the day again…I fear for the season.

And to think . . .
. . . how much the lines changed from Game 1 to Game 82 and the playoffs. Not used to seeing Bernier with the Sedins, Pyatt on the 2nd line, and Kesler and Burrows together.
And they were all great that night! What an amazing game that was. And sweet goal by Ripper to cap it off.

Not used to seeing Bernier score either.

Kesler and Burrows
You may see them together again this year, even outside the penalty kill (where they’re pretty damn fine). We’ll see who assigned up front this year, but bear in mind skating Burrows with the Sedins may have been a one-year deal.
Very Nice
Lotta good memories there, including Bernier’s name getting chanted (!), and “..A blocked shot from Johnson…” Heard that call a lot, too!
