Most of the quality merchandise has been picked over but the Canucks - who have just under $6 million in cap space available - still have some interesting options as they contemplate their next move.
Of the available talent, most of the intriguing names belong to blueliners.
In no particular order there’s Dennis Seidenberg, Sergei Zubov, Mathieu Schneider, Marc-Andre Bergeron, Niclas Havelid, Derek Morris, Kyle McLaren and Phillipe Boucher.
Via Das Province. Read on for more names that are still available to round out the roster, including a gentleman named Todd Bertuzzi (!).

But he looked so good putting the Flames on the PK all last year…we couldn’t possibly take that away from ya!

third line
Soft minutes. Any penalties and he rides the pine. $900,000 a year and maaaaaybe. As a last resort.

Yeah, I would watch out. Zan may jump on your back while you’re skating away and not looking and give you a punch or two, after which a whole bunch of guys may pile on top of you. It could really hurt your spine.

I think it’s a fact of life that most d-men with offensive upside are usually lacking something regarding their play in their own end.

And yet Neidermayer and Lidstrom have been doing it all for 15+ years. They’re amazing players.

Wistful sigh
Somehow, I don’t think either of them would come with a $1.25 million price tag, and I think Bergeron will. $1.5, tops.
Re: Bertuzzi
For a “what have you done for me lately” business, some people (not you guys, I get that you’re joking more than anything) seem to have an extremely long memory when it comes to Bertuzzi. He hasn’t been a good, effective player in years now.

Yeah, I made a comment over in Matchsticks and Gasoline that he should just accept a small contract in a market like Tampa or Atlanta and just accept third line duties going down the stretch. There remains the woefully slim chance he’ll help his team with decreased minutes, but his last four stops (including Florida) have hardly helped his chances on the open market. How the mighty have fallen.

I could see him fitting in well over in Toronto.
Bring me Stanley. Alive if possible, dead... just as good.
