Contract Talks With Sedins To Begin In Next 1-2 Weeks
So Assistant GM Lawrence Gilman told the Vancouver Sun today. So it's all going to go down at the last minute it seems. If the sides are really far apart, a deal may not be reached by July 1.
This is going to be crucial. If Mike Gillis lets them go, he is going to be extra busy trying to find a couple of guys that can collectively put up 160 points. Good luck with that.

I agree
I’m really anxious to get these guys locked up for another few years. They don’t look like they’re slowing down and honestly this year they looked as good if not better than they ever have.
i think the entire league will be looking at this to see what comes of it. how many UFA’s are going to be saying i want sedin money?

I hope that isn’t the case, only in that there’s a part of me that hopes they take a bit of a discount.
On the other hand, aren’t there already enough players out there that the Sedins will use to guage a pricetag? Why would their contract be the one others compare it to?
there are only a few marques players out there this offseason. yes glass jaw gaborik is out there but as far as forwards go, its slim pickings

Don’t people who work in hospitals get sick more often? I donno, I guess it’s not that important. Anyway, what makes this interesting is that to stay playing for the same team, not only are the Sedins going to have to take less, but they’ll have to take even less due to the economic health of the NHL. The salary cap is expected to drop more than once over the next two years, and I think that a lot of teams are going to try and capitalize on that. We’ll see if the Canucks can do so with a bit of a head start on the negotiation process.

I’ll have to see that to believe it

it all depends on if beavis and butthead can get a lucrative tv deal going. if this series goes 6 or 7 and is exciting, and the numbers on vs and nbc hold i think they will be able to start generating revenue. but then again beavis and butthead are much like the democrats of the 80’s in the us.
they could easily snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
