Demitra most likely done for the series - Salo may play in Game 4
Demitra has impressed my at an on-again/off-again basis all year. In the playoffs, he has been decent, but far from great, just like Sundin.
I'm surprised Demitra lasted this long, actually.
To be honest, I didn't miss Pavol last night, as Mason Raymond looked great on Line 2. Plus, having Pyatt back is completely worth it.
Getting Sami Salo back is the key. Alain refuses to play Ossi Vaananen for more than 9:00 a game, so the other 5 get more ice time tacked on. Vigneault even stated after Game 3 that he didn't even want Ossi to touch the puck...
Is Ossi really that bad?

If you listened to the comments, AV said that about Ossi very jokingly. His point was simply that his purpose is to be big and prevent plays on the other team, not make plays for us. I think Ossi’s ice time would increase if they used him more, it’s just a matter of comfort level and experience. But as much as I love him, I’ll take Salo a trillion times before I would put Ossi back in the lineup.
By ‘used him more’ i mean if he was in the line up for more games. Otherwise that comment just sounds stupid!

Yeah, I read the comment by AV so I didn’t catch his sarcasm there.

From what I’ve seen of him, he’s looked fine. I missed the first 25 minutes last night due to work, but I never noticed him out there too much, which for a d-man, is a pretty good thing.
Getting a penalty on his first shift of the night probably didn’t help Ossi either.

I went back and watched the replay of that hit where Demitra went out. He took a shoulder to the jaw pretty hard…his head snapped back just before he hit the boards. Then as he tried to get back up, he had that sort of look of, ‘where the f* am I?’ as he stood. The camera was then gone from him…but I gotta think this is a concussion. Those bloody shoulder pads are man hole covers strapped to your neck…
The speculation is either that or a shoulder injury on the same play.

I really like Raymond being out there, I love his style. I really think we need a guy with speed on that line, especially against the hawks, and I don’t really miss Demitra at all, I think he’s out of place there.
Hopefully Salo is good to go tonight and I think we’ll have the best lines of our playoff run so far.
Burrows + Canucks = Stanley Cup!
As a 'Hawks fan
I have mixed feelings about the news. Demitra, who has, let me see…11,000 points against the ‘Hawks, is out (yay!) but Sami Salo, all 75 inches and 230 lbs. of him, is back in (uh-oh). This doesn’t dim my confidence; I’m just worried about Tazer’s shoulder; what if Sami hits him and it’s harder for him to lift the Cup later?
Seriously, I have been looking forward to this series since the last season meeting, and it is just as exciting as I had expected.
Oh, and NHL ’09 simulation has the ’Hawks taking it in 7 games. So we got that going for us, which is nice…
I’ll bet the Canucks win if I simmed it on mine! :)
What did you do, boost all the players’ ratings? haha
