-The Aeros came out flying out of desperation, of course, getting an early goal from sniper Corey Locke 1:26 in (a Wild pick). But the Moose are an opportunistic team and can bury their chances. Captain Mike Keane answered with 2 straight goals, one of them shorthanded, to make it 2-1 after 1 period. Mike Keane. He sure as hell wants to win the Cup in his home province of Manitoba. Those were only his 3rd and 4th goals of the playoffs. The way he's playing over the past 2 games, you'd think he'd have 10 goals by now.
He is a clutch player. After all, he has won 3 Stanley Cups.
The Aeros are going with Kazak goalie Anton Khudobin in this one over Nolan Schaefer.
Shots are 10-9 Moose after 1.
-That was more of a cautious period by the Moose. They had their best chance on a 3 on 2 but Mark Fistric shot the puck wide from point blank.
The Aeros kept attacking but were kept at bay, with most of their shots coming from the outside. One defensive error from the Moose in their own zone and the Aeros capitalized on a 3-man passing play, finished off by Robbie Earl at the 13:58 mark of the 2nd period.
A quiet night for Cody Hodgson out there. 1 shot on goal is all.
The Aeros outshot the Moose 8-3 in the 2nd period. Do the Moose have any magic left to close out this series?
A period of insanity. Jason Krog scored only 25 seconds in, and the Moose went into defensive mode mostly. The Houston announcers had written the Aeros off as Schneider has never allowed more than 3 goals in the Calder Cup playoffs. Well, 13:00 later Aero's Matt Beaudoin scored and 55 seconds later, old vet Tony "Circus" Hrkac scored to make it 4-3 Aeros.
When it seemed that Houston was going to take this one, the Moose finally put on some serious pressure and got a lucky break as Aeros' goalie Khudobin came out of his crease to cover the puck. He failed, and Mario Bliznak wrapped the puck into the net tying it at 4.
The shots were 11-9 Aeros in Period 3. Not a lot of them were of great quality, but Houston is getting the job done, barely.
-2:00 in a Moose defenceman charged out of his zone with the puck and turned it over. Corey Locke's line charged in, put the puck on net, and Matt Beaudoin cleaned up the garbage to win it for the Aeros.
