Ben Eager nails Rick Rypien.
Rypien, Alain Vigneault and other Canucks thought the hit was late and warranted a suspension. The NHL ruled today that no suspension was necessary.
Eager quipped: "It was nothing," he said. "It was a big hit. There's big hits in the playoffs. It seems when ever there is a big hit these days everyone is talking suspension."

My opinion:
It was filthy because it was late. If it wasn’t late I would have thought it was a massive crunch that I could appreciate.
It was late.. yeah… but he was penalized for it. I don’t think a comparison to Brasher (which I think I read in the game thread) is warranted because it wasn’t blatant head-hunting.
I think a suspension would be extreme for it.. but then again.. I’m a Hawks fan..
It was a great hit with the arm/shoulder..definitely not an intentional headshot

IMO
there were a lot of hard hits last night and some were penalized as illegal. However, I really don’t recall anything especially noteworthy as far as anyone head-hunting from either team. Then again, I have a short memory (or senility – I don’t remember).
If I can't be a good example, I'll just be a horrible warning
there’s a lot of things I don’t recall either, but that was self-induced. :)

I think that’s what’s going to happen. Hopefully Eager obliges without faking dropping his gloves.

DETROIT — Anaheim Ducks forward Mike Brown was ejected from the team’s 3-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Friday night for a hit that bloodied Jiri Hudler.
Hudler passed the puck and was defenseless when Brown hit him, appearing to land an elbow to the head during the first period on Friday night.
“I just hit him with my shoulder. My elbow wasn’t up,” Brown insisted losing 3-2 to Detroit. “My stick wasn’t up. I don’t think it should have been a penalty. I mean, his head was down and I think they called it because he was cut, but I probably think that was from his visor.”
Holy cow, did I call it or what?!?
