From the Moose via the Winnipeg Sun:
Their finishing kick has sent the Manitoba Moose into the next round.
The Moose completed the job against the Toronto Marlies Saturday night at the MTS Centre with three third-period goals for a 4-2 victory, winning the best-of-seven playoff series in six games.
Manitoba won the final three games of the series by outscoring Toronto 8-0 in the final period of those games.
Marlies goalie (and presumed future goalie for the Leafs) Justin Pogge had allowed 10 goals in the past two games against the Moose, so Adam Munro got the start. Ray Sawada got the game winner late in the third to avoid a seventh and final game.
Good news for the kids since this will be the fourth time in the past five seasons they'll advance to the North Division final. They now await the winner of the Grand Rapids Griffins and Hamilton Bulldogs series.
Cory Schneider sits fifth best in the AHL with a 1.98 GAA (former Moose goalie Drew MacIntyre sits at #1 actually). Up front Jason Krog is the third highest scorer and Jason Jaffray is tied for the lead in goals.
