It wasn't a pretty way to clinch, but clinch they did. Congrats to the guys, Vigneault, Gillis and every other soul who has helped this team along the way.

Somewhere, ol' Ross hangs his head in embarrassing shame.

Next stop? Opening the doors at GM Place for playoff newbies Columbus or flavor of the month Anaheim and then promptly shoving them right out towards the golf range.

Great news to wake up to on a fine Easter morning.

by GZ Expat on Apr 11, 2009 3:57 PM PDT reply actions

After a lousy January like that, the Luongo injury, and the ability for the team to stay reasonably healthy, I’m fucking proud of this team. These are good times!

100 points.
Home ice advantage
Sundin looks better every game now.

The 3rd and 4th lines are cruising.

Bring on whoever!

I have to agree! Sundin is playing much much much better now!
Hopefully he will show his worth during the playoffs!

We are all Canucks.

Columbus is going to be a tough-assed opponent…not to mention the long travel.

by GZ Expat on Apr 11, 2009 5:33 PM PDT reply actions

It’s not necessarily Columbus. They are now losing to Minnesota. The Ducks have to lose to Phoenix tonight or we play Quacks

I DID I NOT SAY THIS WOULD HAPPEN? AS PROMISED:

I TOLD YOU SO!!!!

GO NUCKS SO PROUD OF THIS TEAM THIS SEASON !!!!!!

Oh yeah? I predicted it too…in October!

by Sean Zandberg on Apr 11, 2009 6:08 PM PDT up reply actions

3-1 Coyotes over the Ducks right now. Go Gretzky!

Ross McKeon is a tool and a terrible hockey writer. He demonstrates that every week, but somehow still works for yahoo. He also is very biased against Van, criticizes and undervalues them whenever he can.

Congrats to the Nucks and let’s hope we play Columbus! I just haven’t liked what I have seen in the Nucks last few games against the Ducks or the Blues.

by Steve7 on Apr 11, 2009 6:46 PM PDT reply actions

Just watch the Canucks play more consistent in the playoffs. Enough of playing these bottom-feeders already!

by Sean Zandberg on Apr 11, 2009 6:52 PM PDT up reply actions

Was 4-2 Phoenix, now it’s 4-4.

Fuck yeah!

Bring on the playoffs!

When do they start anyway?

Viktor Tikhonov!!

by cyxj on Apr 11, 2009 7:48 PM PDT reply actions

Yeah! Are you sure? What is the deal with St. Louis? I always forget the tie-breaker sequence

by Sean Zandberg on Apr 11, 2009 7:52 PM PDT reply actions

we're facing columbus

columbus did lose to the wild, but anaheim lost in overtime to phoenix, so columbus stays in 6th.

congrats canucks!!!

Love how the Ducks draw Detroit or San jose. Couldn’t happen to a better team

by Sean Zandberg on Apr 11, 2009 7:54 PM PDT reply actions

So Columbus has a better head to head record against the Blues?

by Sean Zandberg on Apr 11, 2009 7:55 PM PDT reply actions

no they don’t. you guys are on dope I think. The Blues killed the Jackets in the regular season. We could still face the Blues if they win tomorrow.

The tie breaker in the standings is:

1. Wins
2. Season series
3. goals for

by Sean Zandberg on Apr 11, 2009 8:01 PM PDT up reply actions

oh yeah, the blues have been forgotten.....

they face a similar scenario to anaheim, except for the tie-breaker.
if the blues win tomorrow, they will tie with points for columbus. looking at the stats, this would put both teams at 41-31-10 for the season. the next tie-breaker is the season series, for which St. Louis is 5-1-0.
so, basically, if the blues can beat the avalanche tomorrow, then we’ll face them in the 1st round.

this also means that our interactions with the folks from St. Louis Game Time will get interesting.

by missy on Apr 11, 2009 8:25 PM PDT up reply actions

I think we can bank on a Canucks-Blues series. The Blues are cookin’ right now. Insane! It’s funny, one minute I was happy the Blues got into the playoffs, now we may actually face them.
SLGT people be damned if this is the case. It’s going to be fun
