Canucks playoff push is now quickly becoming a division or cup push!
The Canucks just keep on winning lately and this to me is no real surprise. In fact I would have to say get used to it, as with 20 games remaining in their schedule it would appear there is much, much more winning to come. Starting Tuesday With the defending division champion Wild the suddenly unstoppable force that is the Canucks has 17 games against opponents currently below them in the standings and only 3 (San Jose, Calgary, Chicago) against what could be considered contending teams.
Lets go further count in those, 4 games against cellar dwelling Colorado and 3 games against the back to earth Kings and suddenly you start to see the potential for the RED HOT Nucks to zip in to the playoffs not only in a top 5 spot, but don't be the least bit surprised to see them even pick up some home ice advantage or even their second division title in the last three years. Yes Calgary holds an 8 point lead on them and Chicago 7 points for the 4 seed but these are definitely numbers that can be reached especially with wins in their head to head meetings with both teams.
I would hate to get ahead of myself but with the run they are on and one or two key acquisitions on Wednesday, Vancouver might not only be the hottest team going in to the playoffs but also one of the best all round teams. With Detroit's struggles at the defensive end and San Jose playoff futility combine that with a healthy Luongo hitting his full stride at the right time Mats Sundin is starting to look like a very smart man and not just the greedy individual that a lot of disgruntled Leaf fans might have you believe.
So doubt if you want but i will tell you right now I for one will not only not be surprised to see Vancouver make alot of noise but I won't be shy about being the first one to say "I TOLD YOU SO!!"
