An overview of Martin Brodeur's humble beginnings as he goes for victory 551 tonight. (Good thing he's on my fantasy team ;))

Is Brodeur better than Roy? Or is he the beneficiary of playing for a Devils team that has been competitive for over 15 years?

I hope he ties Roy’s record in Montreal tonight. What a great storyline!

I think Roy was on some pretty competitive teams too…

But Roy’s teams didn’t trap….just a thought.
Don Cherry was talking about Brodeur’s stance and style last night. It is way more stand-up isn’t it? Wow. That is going the way of the dinosaur, yet it works for Brodeur.

There’s a post on the Canadiens blog with 10 reasons why Roy was better.

Number 8 and 10 on that list are especially far-fetched!
But I agree with the rest of it. Brodeur does get props for not looking like Giguere with goalie equipment though. That list indirectly refers to Brodeur looking like an upright picnic table. That’s not true.
At the end of the day, Brodeur has played behind a trap.

Sawchuk was better than all of them. Would love to see Roy or Brodeur play with the size pads he had…and no mask. There is no comparison.
