Burrows not seeking "top 6 forward" money
UPDATE: No Christmas cards for LeBrun.
**********
In a show of humility:
"I'm not asking for first-line money or top six money," Burrows said. "I don't think it changes anything. I still consider myself a checker. That's what I think I am first. That's how I want to be paid.
"If I can generate offence once in a while, I think it's a plus for the team."
Burrow's reaction to Pierre LeBrun's suggestion that he may be traded by the deadline if a deal is not made: "I heard that hot stove," Burrows said. "That's a Frenchman, they don't know what they're saying. It's kind of funny, they were throwing out every name. Who knows who are their sources. I can't let it bother me. I have to play my game and hope for the best — that I stay here."
The article mentions that Burrows is seeking a 3-year deal worth $2 million per season.
I'd say that's a great deal.

The players I all but guarantee will not be moved:
Kesler
Burrows
Mitchell
Luongo
Sundin
Demitra
Sedin
Sedin
Hodgson
Anyone else is up in the air, though Ohlund and Salo have their NTC’s and Gillis claims he’s not going to ask them to move, so while they both make the most sense to move, that doesn’t seem likely. And I would be shocked if Edler or Bieksa would be moved with the numbers they’re putting up recently. Which basically means, the Canucks have available to openly shop:
Crap:
Wellwood
Pyatt
Bernier
Davison
O’Brien
Ossi
Nycholat
Low-value role players:
Hansen
Hordichuck
Johnson
Rypien (possibly should be in ‘crap’ category, we shall see)
Top prospect:
Schneider
Mid prospect, if even that:
Grabner
Crap prospects:
Lots of those
Draft picks
Lots of those
You should guarantee Johnson and Bernier as well.
Johnson is a madman shotblocker and is a lock on the 4th line.
Bernier cannot be traded and I think that has something to do with him getting signed as an RFA after he wsa traded here.
Right, RFA’s can’t be traded the year after they are signed. And I think, long term, Bernier has more of an upside then Pyatt.

No kidding! Did you read what LeBrun said about it? Something to the tune of: “Believe me, Alex, we didn’t just make this stuff up.”
Yeah, piss off, Pierre.
